Summary

This 2019 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG represents the first year of the groundbreaking W463 second generation, a redesign that introduced the modern widescreen cockpit and independent front suspension. Finished in a sophisticated Grey, it remains one of the most desirable resale colors in the GCC market, especially when paired with the iconic AMG performance credentials. With 585 horsepower, it effortlessly balances high-speed highway cruising with genuine off-road capability. For a GCC buyer, this model offers the perfect combination of prestige and the mechanical resilience needed for the regional climate. It stands out from rivals by offering a handcrafted engine and three mechanical locking differentials as standard equipment.

This Car vs Other 2019 G63 AMGs

With just over 100,000 km, this G63 sits at a very average mileage for a five-year-old luxury vehicle in the GCC, where annual averages often reach 20,000–25,000 km. The Grey exterior is a highly liquid asset in the local market, offering better heat management than black and stronger resale value than non-standard shades. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it retains full compatibility with local service centers and regional software.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

Choosing the G63 over the G500 adds the handcrafted AMG V8 engine and the signature side-exit exhaust system that defines the model's character. Inside, the AMG trim upgrades the experience with the Widescreen Cockpit as standard, featuring dual 12.3-inch displays and the AMG Ride Control adaptive suspension. These performance-focused additions are precisely what GCC buyers look for when seeking the top-tier G-Wagon experience.

G63 AMG vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Range Rover SVR or the Lamborghini Urus, the G63 offers a unique ladder-frame construction and three mechanical locking differentials for superior durability in desert environments. It features a massive 100-litre fuel tank, providing a significant range advantage for long cross-border drives across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. While rivals focus on track speed, the G63 leads in iconic presence and vertical cargo space for weekend expeditions.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages approximately 13.2 L/100km, though GCC city traffic will see higher figures; the integrated cylinder deactivation system helps manage efficiency during long highway stretches. Mercedes-Benz has one of the most robust authorized service networks in the region, with extensive coverage across the UAE, Kuwait, and KSA. The G63 historically commands the highest value retention in the luxury SUV segment, often holding a significant premium over its peers after five years of ownership.

Performance & Capability

The G63 delivers a blistering 0–100 km/h time of 4.5 seconds, powered by a twin-turbocharged V8 producing 850 Nm of torque. Its 9-speed automatic transmission features a 40:60 rear-biased torque split, significantly improving on-road agility compared to previous generations. For off-road use, the 2.93 reduction ratio in the low-range transfer case ensures it remains virtually unstoppable on steep dunes or rocky wadis.

Comfort & Cabin

The five-seat cabin is designed for the extreme GCC summer, featuring powerful multi-zone climate control and ventilated front seats as standard. The 2019 redesign added crucial legroom in the rear, making it a viable long-distance family tourer for road trips across the Emirates. High-quality acoustic glass and a premium Burmester sound system provide a refined sanctuary from wind noise during high-speed highway travel.

Safety

This trim is equipped with a comprehensive suite of safety tech including Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC for long desert drives and Blind Spot Assist for busy multi-lane highways. The ladder-frame chassis provides a rigid safety cell, complemented by standard features like Pre-Safe and Lane Keeping Assist. These systems are particularly effective at managing the fast-moving traffic conditions typical of major GCC arterial roads.

The bottom line

For the buyer who wants the ultimate GCC status symbol without the initial depreciation of a new unit, this GCC-spec 2019 G63 in a high-resale color is the definitive choice. It offers the modern tech of the current generation with a mileage profile that suggests careful maintenance and regular highway use.
