Nissan Maxima SL Smart entry and fingerprint operation

Highlights

• 300 hp from a 3.5-litre V6 engine
• 11-speaker Bose premium audio system standard
• Dual-panel panoramic moonroof standard

Summary

This Nissan Maxima stands out as a powerful V6 sedan in a segment increasingly dominated by smaller four-cylinder engines. At 7 years old with 65,000 km, its mileage is significantly below the GCC average for this age, offering a rare opportunity to own a high-output flagship in excellent mechanical health. The black exterior remains a top-tier choice for resale across the region, ensuring better value retention than more niche colors. Combining sports-sedan performance with executive-level cabin tech, it is a perfect match for those who prioritize highway overtaking power and long-distance refinement. The robust Nissan service network ensures that parts and maintenance remain accessible and affordable throughout the UAE and wider GCC.

This Car vs Other 2019 Maximas

With only 65,000 km over 7 years, this Maxima has been driven roughly 9,000 km annually, which is less than half of the typical 20,000-25,000 km GCC average. This low-mileage status represents a significant mechanical advantage, as it avoids the heavy wear often seen in high-commute regional vehicles. The black exterior is highly sought after in the secondary market, providing a clear edge in resale liquidity compared to less popular shades.

SL vs Lower Trims

The SL trim provides a substantial luxury leap over the SV, most notably adding a 11-speaker Bose premium audio system and a dual-panel panoramic moonroof that brightens the entire cabin. It also introduces active noise cancellation and acoustic glass, which are essential for maintaining a quiet environment during high-speed GCC highway travel. Safety is further enhanced at this level with the addition of front and rear parking sensors and a heated steering wheel.

Maxima vs Segment Rivals

The Maxima leads rivals like the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry by offering a standard 300 hp V6, whereas competitors often rely on turbocharged four-cylinders that lack the same smooth power delivery for highway overtaking. Its driver-centric '4-door sports car' cockpit layout provides a more engaging experience than the more conservative seating found in the Altima. Additionally, its generous 68-litre fuel tank provides superior range for long-distance trips between emirates.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.5-litre V6 is remarkably efficient for its size, achieving approximately 9.9 L/100km on combined cycles, though stop-start city traffic in Dubai or Riyadh will see this rise. As a Nissan flagship, it benefits from the most extensive authorized service network in the region, ensuring competitive maintenance costs at any major center. While the Maxima depreciates slightly faster than the Patrol or Altima, this specific low-mileage SL trim is expected to hold its value better than high-mileage American spec equivalents.

Performance & Capability

Generating 300 hp, the Maxima delivers confident acceleration, reaching 100 km/h in approximately 6.8 seconds, which is highly competitive for a naturally aspirated front-wheel-drive sedan. The Xtronic CVT is specifically tuned for this V6 to provide quick throttle response during highway merges, while the sport-tuned suspension maintains composure during spirited driving. This powertrain is well-regarded for its durability in the extreme heat of the Gulf, requiring only standard premium unleaded petrol to maintain peak performance.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, you will find Nissan's 'Zero Gravity' leather-appointed seats, which are designed to reduce fatigue during the long drives common across the UAE. The dual-zone automatic climate control is exceptionally powerful, featuring dedicated rear vents to ensure all five passengers stay cool during the peak summer months. The SL trim’s ambient LED lighting and active noise cancellation create a premium executive atmosphere that feels a class above standard mid-size sedans.

Safety

Standard safety for the SL trim includes a comprehensive ADAS suite with Intelligent Cruise Control, which is indispensable for the long desert highways. It also features Blind Spot Warning and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert to help navigate fast-moving multi-lane traffic, alongside Automatic Emergency Braking with Forward Collision Warning. The inclusion of front and rear sonar sensors makes parking this large sedan simple even in tight urban spaces.

The bottom line

This is an ideal choice for the executive or enthusiast seeking low-mileage V6 power and premium Bose audio without the high depreciation of a new vehicle. Its combination of flagship luxury and a strong regional service network makes it one of the most sensible performance buys in the UAE today.
