Toyota Hilux GLX

Highlights

• Extensive GCC authorised service network
• 80-litre fuel tank standard
• Strong value retention in the GCC used market

Summary

This GCC-spec Toyota Hilux GLX is a rare find in the current market, combining an exceptionally low mileage of just 17,000 km with a petrol powertrain preferred for local long-term reliability. As a double-cab model with an automatic transmission, it strikes a balance between a rugged weekend adventurer and a practical daily driver for the region's highways. The grey exterior is a versatile choice that resists the appearance of desert dust better than darker tones while maintaining a strong resale profile in the UAE and wider GCC. For a buyer seeking the legendary durability of a Hilux without the high wear typical of workhorse vehicles, this example stands out as one of the cleanest available. Toyota's reputation for AC performance ensures cabin comfort even in the peak of the Middle Eastern summer.

This Car vs Other 2019 Hiluxs

At just 17,000 km, this Hilux has covered significantly less ground than the average GCC vehicle of its age, which typically sees 20,000 to 25,000 km annually. This low usage translates to less mechanical wear on the suspension and drivetrain compared to high-mileage examples often used for commercial work. The grey paint is a neutral, high-demand color in the region, ensuring it remains a liquid asset for future resale.

GLX vs Lower Trims

The GLX trim provides a meaningful step up from the base WorkMate or fleet-oriented models by adding creature comforts that GCC owners value. Key upgrades include power windows, power locks, and improved interior fabric that feels more suited for family use rather than just utility. It also features a more refined exterior finish compared to the basic steel-wheel versions found at the entry level.

Hilux vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Nissan Navara or Mitsubishi L200, the Hilux leads with a vastly superior authorized service network that spans every corner of the GCC, from Dubai to the remote areas of Saudi Arabia. Its 2.7L petrol engine is specifically favored by local buyers for its simple maintenance and ability to handle high-ambient temperatures better than some smaller-displacement turbocharged rivals. The Hilux also historically holds a higher percentage of its original value than any other pickup in the mid-size segment.

Running Costs & Resale

Toyota vehicles in the UAE and KSA retain roughly 65% to 75% of their value after three years, making the Hilux one of the safest automotive investments in the region. Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.7L petrol unit averages between 10L and 11L per 100km, a predictable figure for the region's mixed highway and city driving. Service intervals are recommended every 10,000 km or 6 months at major authorized centers like Al Futtaim or Abdullah Hashim, ensuring parts are always available off-the-shelf.

Performance & Capability

The 164 hp petrol engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, providing smooth power delivery for UAE highway cruising and desert access. With a generous 80-litre fuel tank, this Hilux is well-suited for long cross-border drives between emirates without frequent refueling stops. Its body-on-frame construction provides the literal backbone for heavy loading and durability on unpaved surfaces.

Comfort & Cabin

Designed to seat five comfortably, the double-cab layout features a powerful GCC-spec air conditioning system that is legendary for its ability to cool the cabin rapidly in 45°C+ heat. The interior layout is ergonomic and uses high-durability materials that resist the wear of sand and sun over time. Rear occupants benefit from a spacious bench, making it a viable alternative to an SUV for family weekend trips.

Safety

This Hilux comes equipped with essential safety features for GCC roads, including an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC). It includes a standard array of airbags and hill-start assist, providing confidence during both fast-moving highway traffic and inclined off-road terrain. The robust chassis provides a high level of passive protection compared to lighter unibody vehicles.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer who wants a 'like-new' Hilux without the new-car price tag, this ultra-low-mileage petrol automatic is the definitive choice for long-term reliability and value.
