• 240 km/h top speed

Summary

This Audi Q5 represents a balanced entry into the luxury SUV segment, pairing the versatile Quattro all-wheel drive system with a refined silver exterior that remains the most practical choice for GCC resale. While the mileage reflects consistent use, these engines are built for long-distance durability, having spent much of their life on the UAE’s well-maintained highway networks. The 45 TFSI trim offers a significant power advantage over the base models, ensuring confident overtaking on fast-moving roads like the E11. It stands out for its superior interior build quality compared to many rivals, offering a quiet, insulated cabin that effectively shuts out the desert heat. For a buyer seeking a prestigious daily driver that balances performance with family practicality, this GCC-spec example is a sensible and stylish choice.

This Car vs Other 2020 Q5s

With 162,000 km, this vehicle has been driven more than the average GCC luxury SUV, which typically sees 20,000–25,000 km annually. However, the silver exterior is a high-demand resale color in the local market, offering better heat reflection and maintenance ease compared to darker tones. The mileage is offset by the vehicle's GCC specification, ensuring the cooling systems and filters are optimized for the regional climate.

45 TFSI vs Lower Trims

The 45 TFSI trim is a major step up from the 35 or 40 variants, delivering 252 hp compared to the significantly lower outputs of the entry-level models. In the GCC market, this trim typically includes the larger MMI Navigation Plus display and Audi Virtual Cockpit as standard, features that hold their value well at resale. It also benefits from upgraded 19-inch wheels and a more sophisticated multi-zone climate control system, essential for passenger comfort during the summer months.

Q5 vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC, the Q5 leads with a more intuitive cabin layout and a highly regarded Quattro ultra AWD system that optimizes fuel efficiency without sacrificing grip. Its boot space is among the most usable in the compact luxury class, making it better suited for airport runs or family staycations. Additionally, the Audi MMI interface is often cited by regional owners as being more stable and easier to use while driving in heavy city traffic.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this 2.0L turbocharged engine averages approximately 8.4 L/100km on the highway, making it an efficient cruiser for inter-emirate travel. In the UAE and wider GCC, Audi maintains an extensive authorized service network, though owners should budget for premium synthetic oil changes every 15,000 km. While European SUVs depreciate faster than Japanese alternatives, the Q5 retains roughly 50-55% of its value after four years, performing better than several of its direct continental competitors.

Performance & Capability

The 45 TFSI engine produces a verified 252 hp and 370 Nm of torque, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint of 6.3 seconds, which is brisk for a family crossover. The Quattro all-wheel-drive system provides exceptional stability during the rare but heavy regional rainstorms and on loose gravel tracks leading to weekend farm retreats. Five distinct drive modes, including 'Offroad,' allow you to adjust the steering and transmission response to suit either the smooth asphalt of Abu Dhabi or the varied terrains of the Northern Emirates.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Q5 offers a five-seat configuration with generous headroom and a rear bench that can slide and recline for extra flexibility. The GCC-optimized air conditioning is remarkably powerful, featuring rear vents that ensure all passengers stay cool even when external temperatures exceed 45°C. High-quality materials like leather and brushed aluminum are used throughout, paired with acoustic glazing that keeps the cabin remarkably quiet at highway speeds.

Safety

Safety is a hallmark of this model, featuring six airbags and a 5-star Euro NCAP rating. Standard equipment on the 45 TFSI includes Audi Pre-Sense City, which can detect pedestrians and vehicles to initiate emergency braking. For GCC highway driving, the inclusion of electronic stability control and traction management provides vital assistance when navigating at speed or during sudden maneuvers on sandy road surfaces.

The bottom line

This Q5 is the ideal match for a professional or small family looking for a premium German SUV that doesn't compromise on power, now available at a competitive price point due to its highway mileage.
