Bentley Bentayga STANDARD

Highlights

• 0–100 km/h in 4.5 seconds
• 770 Nm of torque
• Top speed of 290 km/h

Summary

This 2020 Bentley Bentayga represents a sophisticated entry point into ultra-luxury SUV ownership, featuring a powerful V8 that balances explosive performance with daily usability. With 69,000 km over 6 years, it has been driven approximately 11,500 km per year—significantly below the GCC average of 20,000–25,000 km—suggesting a well-preserved mechanical life. The deep blue exterior is a highly desirable shade in the UAE, offering better heat management than black while maintaining a strong resale profile. As a post-2018 model, it benefits from the improved weight distribution of the V8 powertrain, making it feel more agile than the heavier W12 variants in city traffic. For a GCC buyer, this is an opportunity to own a handcrafted British icon that has already moved past its steepest initial depreciation curve.

This Car vs Other 2020 Bentaygas

While many luxury SUVs in the region easily exceed 120,000 km by their sixth year, this unit's 69,000 km odometer reading makes it a low-mileage standout in the GCC used market. The American specification is common in the UAE and provides the same handcrafted interior and twin-turbocharged performance as its local counterparts. Its blue finish is a versatile and popular choice that typically holds value better than more unconventional bespoke colors often found on these models.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

The 'Standard' V8 trim on the Bentayga is anything but entry-level, adding significant agility over the base-model concepts through its lighter 4.0L engine. This trim includes the essential 360-degree camera system and height-adjustable air suspension as standard, both of which are vital for navigating tight Dubai mall parking or uneven suburban terrain. Compared to the later 'S' or 'Azure' trims, this version focuses on the pure Bentley aesthetic without the added complexity of heavy sport-tuned body kits.

Bentayga vs Segment Rivals

The Bentayga competes directly with the Lamborghini Urus and the Range Rover Autobiography, leading with a level of cabin craftsmanship and noise insulation that the more sport-biased Urus cannot match. While the Range Rover offers excellent utility, the Bentley’s V8 provides a more exclusive engine character and a higher top speed of 290 km/h. Its 85-litre fuel tank ensures fewer stops during long-distance drives between emirates compared to smaller-capacity competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the twin-turbo V8 averages around 13.0 L/100km on a combined cycle, though GCC city traffic may see this rise. Bentley has a robust authorized service network across major GCC cities including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Riyadh, ensuring parts and specialist labor are always accessible. While luxury SUVs typically see 12-18% annual depreciation in the local market, the Bentayga's status as a high-demand status symbol helps it retain a premium over more common German luxury rivals.

Performance & Capability

The 542 hp twin-turbo V8 delivers a specialized 'Bentley Burble' and pushes the SUV to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds, providing effortless highway overtaking. The permanent All-Wheel Drive system is tuned for road stability but offers selectable modes that can handle light sand or gravel tracks for weekend escapes. Its 770 Nm of torque is available from just 1,960 rpm, ensuring immediate response even when the vehicle is fully loaded with passengers and luggage.

Comfort & Cabin

The five-seat layout offers a spacious 484-litre boot, making it more practical for family road trips than the four-seat executive configuration. The cabin is insulated with thick acoustic glass and features a powerful quad-zone climate control system engineered to maintain a cool environment even in 45°C summer heat. Hand-stitched leather and genuine wood veneers create a tactile luxury experience that remains the benchmark for the SUV segment.

Safety

Standard safety features include a comprehensive ADAS suite with Blind Spot Assist and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, which are particularly useful on fast-moving multi-lane highways. The vehicle is equipped with a sophisticated Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and multiple airbags as standard. The high-resolution 360-degree camera provides a bird's-eye view, making the large footprint of this luxury SUV manageable in urban environments.

The bottom line

This is a prime choice for a buyer seeking the prestige of a Bentley with the reliability of a modern V8, offering exceptionally low mileage for its age in the GCC market.
