Hyundai Palisade PREMIUM

Highlights

• 291 hp from a 3.8L V6
• Eight seats with all-wheel drive
• Extensive GCC authorised service network

Summary

This 2020 Palisade Premium represents a sophisticated choice for GCC families seeking a high-spec eight-seater that holds its own against luxury rivals. With 95,000 km, it sits right at the expected average for a four-year-old vehicle in the region, where long-distance commutes between emirates are common. The Silver exterior is a premier choice for the local market, offering the best possible heat reflection and maintaining the highest resale liquidity in the UAE. As the Premium trim, it provides the essential cabin cooling and tech upgrades needed for the intense summer months. It is a reliable, spacious workhorse that bridges the gap between daily school runs and cross-border road trips.

This Car vs Other 2020 Palisades

With 95,000 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been used as a typical family commuter, averaging roughly 23,000 km per year, which is standard for the GCC region. The Silver finish is widely regarded as the most practical choice for the UAE climate, as it hides dust well and retains its value significantly better than darker or niche colors. This specific unit is a GCC-spec model, ensuring the cooling system and upholstery are factory-prepared for extreme desert temperatures.

PREMIUM vs Lower Trims

The Premium trim is a significant step up from the base SE and SEL, adding features that are highly sought after by GCC buyers. It includes a power liftgate, larger 20-inch alloy wheels, and a higher grade of interior materials compared to the entry-level cloth finishes. Most importantly for local drivers, the Premium package typically includes ventilated front seats and a dual sunroof setup, providing a much more airy and cooled environment than the standard Smart trims.

Palisade vs Segment Rivals

The Palisade often leads its segment with a genuine 8-seat capacity, whereas rivals like the Ford Explorer or Honda Pilot frequently default to seven seats in their higher trims. While the Toyota Highlander offers hybrid efficiency, the Palisade’s naturally aspirated 3.8L V6 is preferred by many in the GCC for its long-term durability and smoother power delivery on fast-moving highways. Its 71-liter fuel tank is well-sized for the long stretches of road between major cities like Dubai and Riyadh.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.8L V6 engine delivers a balanced fuel consumption profile, typically averaging between 10.5 and 11.5 L/100km in mixed GCC driving conditions. Owners can expect excellent reliability, as Hyundai maintains one of the most comprehensive authorized service networks across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. Historically, the Palisade has shown strong value retention, depreciating at a slower rate than its European counterparts due to high local demand for large, reliable family SUVs.

Performance & Capability

The 291 hp V6 provides effortless overtaking power on multi-lane highways, reaching 100 km/h in approximately 7.7 seconds. Its HTRAC all-wheel-drive system includes specific modes for sand and mud, making it capable of handling gravel tracks and light desert excursions for weekend camping trips. With a braked towing capacity of up to 2,260 kg, it is also well-suited for hauling jet skis or small trailers common in the UAE's outdoor lifestyle.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for family logistics, featuring a power-folding third row and dedicated air conditioning vents for every passenger. The three-zone climate control system is exceptionally powerful, designed to cool the large interior volume quickly even after the car has been parked in direct sun. Premium materials and extensive sound insulation ensure a quiet ride, isolating passengers from road noise during long cross-country drives.

Safety

Safety is a primary focus for the Palisade, which comes standard with seven airbags and a comprehensive suite of driver assists. Key features for GCC highways include Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, which are invaluable in fast-moving city traffic. It also features a Rear Occupant Alert system, a critical safety addition for families traveling with children in high-temperature environments.

The bottom line

For the growing family that needs maximum seating and GCC-proven reliability without the premium price tag of a luxury brand, this well-maintained Palisade is an ideal opportunity.
