• Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go standard

Summary

This 2021 Hyundai Palisade represents a high-value entry into the premium family SUV segment, featuring a versatile 8-seat layout that is increasingly rare in its class. Finished in white—the most sought-after color for GCC resale—this American-spec crossover offers a powerful naturally aspirated V6 that avoids the complexity of modern turbocharged rivals. With mileage that aligns with typical long-distance regional use, it remains a robust choice for families who prioritize cabin space and reliability. The all-wheel-drive system provides added stability for weekend trips across the Emirates, making it a well-rounded workhorse for the Gulf climate.

This Car vs Other 2021 Palisades

With 91,858 km, this Palisade sits within the expected range for a 2021 model in the GCC, where annual averages often reach 25,000 km due to highway commuting. The white exterior is a strategic choice for the local market, offering the best heat reflection during summer months and ensuring the strongest possible resale demand. As an American-spec vehicle, it provides a cost-effective alternative to GCC-spec units while maintaining the same mechanical platform.

SMART vs Lower Trims

The SMART trim serves as a balanced mid-point, providing essential driver-assistance tech like Smart Cruise Control and Lane Keeping Assist that are often absent on base fleet models. It retains the highly practical 8-seat configuration with a second-row bench, which is preferred by larger families over the 7-seat captain's chair layout found in higher trims. You also benefit from the HTRAC All-Wheel Drive system, including dedicated Snow and Sand modes for varied terrain.

Palisade vs Segment Rivals

The Palisade leads the Kia Telluride and Honda Pilot in interior packaging, offering a more usable third row for adults and a generous 155.3 cubic feet of total passenger volume. Its naturally aspirated 3.8L V6 is widely regarded as more durable for high-heat environments compared to the smaller turbocharged engines found in the Ford Explorer. With a 71-litre fuel tank, it is purpose-built for the long-distance highway hauls common between Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Muscat.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 3.8L AWD variant typically averages 10.5 to 11.5 L/100km, which is efficient for an 8-passenger vehicle in GCC traffic conditions. Maintenance is straightforward thanks to Hyundai's extensive authorized service network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, with parts readily available due to the model's high regional popularity. Historically, the Palisade holds its value well, showing roughly 10-12% annual depreciation, outperforming many American and European competitors in the SUV segment.

Performance & Capability

The 291-hp V6 provides smooth, linear acceleration, reaching 0-100 km/h in approximately 7.7 seconds, which ensures confident overtaking on fast-moving highways like the E11. The HTRAC All-Wheel Drive system features a selectable AWD lock, providing genuine traction for sandy tracks and gravel paths during family weekend escapes. While it is a road-biased crossover, its 5,000 lbs (2,268 kg) braked towing capacity makes it capable of hauling jet skis or small trailers with ease.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for GCC family logistics, featuring one-touch sliding second-row seats that provide effortless access to the third row. A dedicated rear climate zone with roof-mounted vents ensures all eight passengers stay cool during peak summer temperatures. The SMART trim includes multiple USB ports across all three rows and a quiet, insulated cabin that effectively filters out road noise during long trans-emirate drives.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on this trim is extensive, featuring Hyundai SmartSense technology which includes Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection and Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance. The Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go is particularly valuable for the heavy traffic flow between Sharjah and Dubai, while Lane Following Assist helps reduce driver fatigue on long desert stretches. Rear Occupant Alert also comes standard, providing an essential safety check for families with small children.

The bottom line

This 8-seater Palisade is the ideal choice for a growing family seeking a modern, safe, and spacious SUV in a high-resale color without the premium price tag of a GCC-spec flagship.
