Summary

This GCC-spec Land Cruiser VXR represents the peak of the 200-series durability, pairing the range-topping 5.7L V8 with a proven all-wheel-drive system. While its mileage reflects a well-utilized life on regional highways, these vehicles are famous in the GCC for reaching much higher milestones with basic maintenance. The VXR trim adds significant off-road hardware and cabin luxuries that lower GXR models lack, making it a favorite for both desert enthusiasts and large families. Silver remains one of the most practical and high-resale colors for the local market, effectively hiding dust and reflecting the intense summer heat. For a buyer seeking an unkillable eight-seater that holds its value better than almost any rival, this is the definitive choice.

This Car vs Other 2014 Land Cruisers

At 245,000 km, this vehicle has covered roughly 24,000 km per year, which aligns perfectly with the average annual usage for large SUVs in the GCC. While it has seen more road time than occasional weekenders, its silver exterior and top-tier VXR specification ensure it remains highly liquid in the used market. In a region where reliability is the primary currency, a well-maintained 5.7L V8 often commands a higher premium than younger, smaller-displacement alternatives.

VXR vs Lower Trims

The VXR trim is a significant step up from the GXR, most notably replacing the 4.6L engine with the more powerful 5.7L V8. It features the advanced Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS) for better on-road stability and increased off-road articulation, along with the 360-degree Multi-Terrain Monitor. Inside, the VXR typically upgrades the experience with premium leather, ventilated front seats, and a 14-speaker JBL Synthesis audio system that GXR owners rarely enjoy.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Nissan Patrol Y62, the Land Cruiser offers a tighter turning circle and a reputation for long-term mechanical simplicity that leads the segment. Its dual-tank system provides a massive total capacity of 138 litres, offering superior range for cross-border drives compared to European rivals like the Mercedes GL-Class. The Toyota's resale value in the UAE and Saudi Arabia remains the benchmark, consistently outperforming the competition after the five-year mark.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 5.7L V8 averages around 15.6 L/100km, though heavy stop-start city traffic in Dubai or Riyadh can see this rise toward 18 L/100km. Maintenance is straightforward, with a massive network of authorized Al Futtaim or Abdullah Hashim service centers and readily available parts across every GCC country. This model enjoys one of the lowest depreciation rates in the region, typically losing only 8-10% of its value annually compared to 15% for luxury European SUVs.

Performance & Capability

The 362 hp V8 provides effortless torque for highway overtaking and heavy towing, supported by a 3,500 kg braked capacity. Its true home is the desert, where the Multi-Terrain Select system and Crawl Control allow it to navigate soft sand with a level of digital assistance that makes off-roading accessible to everyone. The full-time 4WD system and body-on-frame construction ensure that even after a decade of use, the chassis remains rigid and capable of handling extreme terrain.

Comfort & Cabin

This eight-seater layout is designed for the GCC family, featuring a powerful four-zone climate control system with dedicated vents for all three rows to combat 50°C summers. The cabin is well-insulated from road noise, making long drives between emirates remarkably serene for a vehicle with such rugged underpinnings. Standard VXR features like the cooled center console box ensure drinks stay cold during long summer road trips, a must-have feature for local buyers.

Safety

Safety is managed by a comprehensive suite of ten airbags and advanced stability systems including A-TRAC and Multi-Terrain ABS. The VXR trim specifically benefits from a 360-degree camera system and front/rear parking sensors, which are essential for navigating a vehicle of this size in tight city parking. The inclusion of ISOFIX points and a reinforced body structure makes it one of the safest platforms for large families in the region.

The bottom line

This is a quintessential GCC workhorse for the buyer who prioritizes the mechanical peace of mind that only a V8 Land Cruiser can provide. It offers the perfect balance of top-tier VXR luxury and legendary Toyota durability at a price point that makes sense for the local market.
