Summary

This 2020 Mercedes-Benz CLS350 AMG represents a sophisticated entry into the executive four-door coupe segment, offering a sharper aesthetic and higher standard specification than the base E-Class. With 129,000 km, this vehicle has been driven consistently across the UAE's highway network and presents an excellent opportunity to own a current-generation C257 at a competitive price point. The black exterior is the most sought-after resale color in the GCC market, ensuring long-term value retention and a timeless look. Powered by a mild-hybrid 2.0L engine, it balances brisk performance with sensible fuel efficiency for daily commutes between Emirates. For the GCC buyer, the combination of AMG styling and Mercedes-Benz's renowned cabin cooling makes this a premier choice for year-round luxury.

This Car vs Other 2020 CLS350s

With 129,000 km on the odometer, this CLS350 aligns with the typical annual usage of 25,000 km seen in the GCC market, indicating it has been primarily used for long-distance highway travel rather than heavy city idling. The black-on-black color combination remains the strongest performer for resale value in the UAE, consistently attracting higher demand than lighter or more niche shades. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it avoids the insurance and warranty complications often associated with American or European imports.

AMG vs Lower Trims

The AMG trim significantly elevates the CLS350's presence with more aggressive front and rear aprons, 19-inch AMG light-alloy wheels, and a diamond-pattern radiator grille. Inside, the cabin gains a flat-bottomed Nappa leather sport steering wheel and brushed stainless steel pedals, features highly prized by GCC buyers for their premium feel. This trim also standardizes the dual 12.3-inch widescreen cockpit displays, providing a far more immersive technology experience than the analog-cluster versions found in base configurations.

CLS350 vs Segment Rivals

The CLS350 leads rivals like the Audi A7 and BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe in pure interior elegance, utilizing higher-grade materials across the dashboard and door cards. While competitors focus on a more technical or minimalist aesthetic, the Mercedes offers a more luxurious 'wrap-around' cockpit design that remains the benchmark for the executive coupe class. Its 490-litre boot capacity is remarkably practical for its sleek silhouette, outperforming several rivals in usable depth for weekend travel.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.0L mild-hybrid powertrain averages approximately 7.1 L/100km on combined cycles, though GCC highway cruising often yields even better efficiency. Service intervals are typically scheduled every 15,000 km at authorized Mercedes-Benz centers across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, ensuring the vehicle's maintenance history remains verifiable for future buyers. The CLS maintains a stable depreciation curve in the local market, typically retaining more value after three years than its Italian or British luxury counterparts.

Performance & Capability

The 299 hp engine features EQ Boost technology, which provides an additional electric assist to eliminate turbo lag during high-speed highway overtaking—a vital feature for navigating fast-moving UAE traffic. It achieves a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 6.0 seconds and is electronically limited to a top speed of 250 km/h, ensuring effortless performance across borders. The 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission is tuned for refinement, keeping engine RPMs low during long desert drives to enhance cabin serenity and fuel range.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a sanctuary designed for the GCC climate, featuring a powerful dual-zone climate control system and high-quality insulation that keeps summer heat at bay. The 64-color ambient lighting system allows for total interior personalization, while the standard 12.3-inch COMAND display offers seamless smartphone integration for navigation and media. Acoustic glass reduces wind and road noise significantly, making it one of the quietest four-door coupes for long-distance travel between Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive with 7 airbags standard and a suite of advanced driver assistance systems including Active Brake Assist and Blind Spot Monitoring, which are essential for multi-lane highway driving. The car also features Pre-Safe technology and Attention Assist, designed to detect driver fatigue during long cross-country journeys. Mercedes-Benz's stability control system is highly regarded for its ability to maintain composure on sandy or wind-swept road surfaces commonly encountered in the region.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec CLS350 AMG is the perfect choice for the professional seeking a sharp, modern Mercedes with the reliability of a four-cylinder hybrid and the prestige of the AMG line. Given its popular color and region-specific equipment, it stands as one of the most balanced executive coupes currently available in the UAE used market.
