Summary

This 2020 Toyota Hilux GLX is a standout choice in the GCC market, combining exceptional durability with incredibly low mileage for its six years of age. Having covered just 28,000 km, it has been driven significantly less than the typical 20,000–25,000 km annual average for this region, representing a rare find for a professional workhorse. The GLX trim offers a perfect balance of utility and daily comfort, featuring a refined 2.7L petrol engine that is well-suited for both city traffic and regional highway commutes. Finished in black, one of the most desirable resale colors in the Gulf, this GCC-spec pickup promises long-term value retention and reliable performance in extreme desert heat. For any buyer looking for a near-new truck with a legendary reputation for reliability, this listing is a prime opportunity.

This Car vs Other 2020 Hiluxs

With only 28,000 km on the odometer, this Hilux sits in the lowest mileage percentile for 2020 models in the GCC. While many six-year-old pickups in the region have exceeded 120,000 km due to heavy commercial or long-distance use, this vehicle presents a significantly higher mechanical lifespan. The black exterior is a high-demand choice in the local market, further strengthening its future resale potential compared to less common colors.

GLX vs Lower Trims

The GLX trim provides essential upgrades over the base GL, including more durable interior finishes and a better integrated audio system that enhances the daily driving experience. It typically adds convenience features such as keyless entry and power windows, making it far more suitable for lifestyle use than fleet-oriented lower trims. The inclusion of the automatic transmission in this 4x4 configuration makes it a much more versatile commuter in heavy GCC city traffic compared to manual-only variants.

Hilux vs Segment Rivals

The Hilux leads its closest rivals, the Nissan Navara and Mitsubishi L200, by offering a superior authorized service network that spans every corner of the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. Its 80-litre fuel tank provides a greater touring range for cross-border drives compared to several competitors in the mid-size pickup segment. While rivals offer comparable utility, the Hilux's reputation for withstanding extreme heat gives it a clear edge in long-term reliability within the Gulf climate.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.7L petrol engine is designed for long-term durability with service intervals typically every 10,000 km across the GCC's extensive Toyota network. Fuel consumption averages around 10.4 L/100km in combined cycles, though real-world figures in stop-start city traffic may be higher. The Hilux holds the strongest resale value in its class, often depreciating at just 8–10% annually, which is significantly lower than its American or European counterparts in the regional used market.

Performance & Capability

Powered by a 164 hp 2.7L engine, this Hilux is built for steady performance rather than outright speed, focusing on torque delivery for hauling and off-road traversal. The selectable four-wheel-drive system with a low-range transfer case allows it to handle soft sand and gravel tracks with ease, making it a capable companion for desert weekends. Its body-on-frame construction ensures it can handle a substantial payload while maintaining structural integrity over rough terrain.

Comfort & Cabin

The double-cab layout comfortably seats five, featuring an air conditioning system specifically engineered to maintain a cool cabin even when outside temperatures exceed 45°C. The interior includes dedicated storage areas and a user-friendly dashboard layout designed for ease of use during long highway stretches. Sound insulation has been improved in this generation to provide a quieter environment than previous work-focused models, making it a viable family vehicle.

Safety

Standard safety features on this GCC GLX trim include dual front airbags and a driver’s knee airbag to provide essential protection. It is equipped with an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), which are critical for maintaining control on sandy or wet road surfaces. Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) further enhance safety during off-road excursions and steep inclines.

The bottom line

This is the ideal purchase for a buyer who needs the legendary reliability of a Hilux but wants the mechanical freshness of a low-mileage vehicle. Its GCC-spec pedigree and popular black finish make it a safe, high-value investment in the current market.
