The 2021 Ford Mustang GT Premium is a powerful and luxurious version of the iconic American muscle car. It features a 460-horsepower V8 engine and adds significant interior and technology upgrades over the standard GT, including leather-trimmed upholstery, heated and ventilated seats, and an enhanced infotainment system.
Powertrain and performance
Engine: A 5.0-liter "Coyote" V8 engine producing 460 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque is standard.
Transmission: The GT Premium comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission with rev-matching for sporty driving. A 10-speed automatic transmission is also an available option.
Performance features: Standard performance-oriented technology includes selectable drive modes, a launch control feature for optimal track starts, and Electronic Line-Lock for warming up the rear tires at the drag strip.
Optional GT Performance Package: For even more track capability, this optional package adds Brembo brakes, a Torsen limited-slip differential, sport-tuned suspension, and unique chassis tuning.
Interior and technology
Seating: The most noticeable upgrade from the standard GT are the leather-trimmed front bucket seats. These seats also come with standard heating and ventilation for enhanced comfort.
Infotainment: A SYNC 3 infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen is standard. It offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, as well as FordPass Connect and Amazon Alexa integration.
Sound system: The GT Premium features a nine-speaker premium audio system, a step up from the base GT's six speakers. For a truly immersive audio experience, a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system is available.
Driver convenience: Additional premium features include dual-zone automatic climate control, ambient interior lighting with MyColor functionality, and an illuminated door-sill scuff plate.
Exterior and styling
Wheels and lighting: The GT Premium comes standard with stylish 18-inch alloy wheels. Like all modern Mustangs, it features aggressive LED sequential taillights.
Visual upgrades: Exterior styling elements of the GT Premium are largely the same as the standard GT, but it offers exclusive optional packages, such as the all-black Nite Pony or the Ice White packages, which feature unique styling elements and wheels.
Exterior features: Additional standard features include dual bright exhaust with rolledtips, LED projector headlights, and pony puddle lamps that project the Mustang logo onto the ground.
Safety and driver-assistance features
Standard features: The 2021 GT Premium is equipped with a suite of safety features as part of Ford Co-Pilot360. This includes Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane-Keeping System, Rear Parking Sensors, Rear View Camera, and Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) with Cross-Traffic Alert.
Optional features: A MagneRide damping system is available, which provides a smoother ride and enhances handling performance.
