Summary

This 2021 Mazda CX-9 GT offers a premium Japanese alternative to the typical family SUV, blending athletic handling with a refined seven-seat cabin. As a GCC-spec model, it is fully optimized for the region's climate with high-output air conditioning and ventilated front seats, which are essential for summer comfort in the UAE. The deep brown exterior provides a sophisticated look that holds its appeal well in the local market, while the GT trim ensures you have the latest safety and technology features. With mileage sitting just under the average for its age in the GCC, this vehicle represents a reliable and well-maintained choice for families who prioritize driving dynamics alongside practicality.

This Car vs Other 2021 CX-9s

At 92,807 km, this CX-9 sits at a healthy average for a 2021 model in the GCC, where long-distance highway commutes between emirates typically add up quickly. Unlike American imports often found on the market, this is a genuine GCC-spec vehicle, ensuring full compatibility with local service centers and a cooling system built for 45°C+ temperatures. The brown finish is a classy, resale-friendly alternative to the common silver and white options.

GT vs Lower Trims

The GT trim adds significant value over the GS-L, including the 360° View Monitor for easier parking and a premium Bose 12-speaker audio system. Crucially for the GCC, it introduces ventilated front seats and a large 10.3-inch infotainment display with a wireless charging pad. You also benefit from the Active Driving Display (Head-Up Display) and 20-inch alloy wheels that give the car a much more commanding presence.

CX-9 vs Segment Rivals

While rivals like the Toyota Highlander and Nissan Pathfinder offer a softer ride, the CX-9 leads the segment in driving engagement and interior material quality. Its 2.5L Turbo engine provides 420 Nm of torque, which offers superior low-end pull for highway overtaking compared to many naturally aspirated V6 competitors. The cabin design is widely considered the most 'near-luxury' in its class, rivaling European brands for refinement.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.5L Turbo engine delivers a combined fuel economy of approximately 8.4 L/100km, though expect 14-15 L/100km in heavy Dubai or Riyadh city traffic with the AC running at full capacity. Mazda's authorized service network is extensive across the UAE and the wider GCC, with standard 10,000 km service intervals. Japanese-built Mazdas historically hold their value better than European rivals, typically depreciating at around 12-15% annually in this region.

Performance & Capability

The CX-9 produces 227 hp and a robust 420 Nm of torque, providing effortless acceleration for a seven-seater. The i-Activ All-Wheel Drive system is road-biased, offering exceptional grip on rain-slicked highways or gravel paths, while G-Vectoring Control Plus makes the SUV feel smaller and more agile in corners. It is perfectly suited for long-distance family road trips to Oman or weekend drives across the UAE's modern highway network.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, you'll find a three-row layout with genuine leather upholstery and three-zone automatic climate control that features dedicated vents for all passengers. The GT trim's ventilated seats are a game-changer for the GCC summer, while acoustic glass helps maintain a quiet, premium atmosphere at highway speeds. The third row folds flat to reveal significant cargo space, making it highly versatile for school runs or grocery trips.

Safety

This GT model comes equipped with the full i-Activsense suite, including Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, which are vital for multi-lane highway driving. It also features Smart City Brake Support (Forward and Reverse) and Lane Keep Assist to provide an extra layer of protection. The 360° camera system is standard on this trim, providing a bird's-eye view that makes maneuvering this large SUV into tight mall parking spaces effortless.

The bottom line

This CX-9 GT is the ideal choice for a family buyer who wants luxury-tier interior quality and sharp handling without the high maintenance costs of a European brand. It is a well-specced, GCC-native vehicle that remains one of the most stylish and reliable options in the pre-owned SUV market.
