Summary

This 2021 Hilux GL is a quintessentially reliable choice for the GCC, offering the perfect balance of utility and legendary Toyota durability. With exactly 5 years of age and 130,000 km, its mileage reflects the typical high-usage profile expected of a regional workhorse while remaining well within its operational prime. The crisp White exterior is not just practical for reflecting the desert sun; it remains the strongest resale color in the Middle East used market. As a GCC-spec 4x4 model, it avoids the compatibility and warranty issues often associated with imports, making it a safe long-term investment for both business and weekend recreational use.

This Car vs Other 2021 Hiluxes

At 130,000 km, this Hilux has been driven an average of 26,000 km per year, which is standard for a utility vehicle in the GCC where highway-heavy commutes are routine. While higher than a passenger sedan's average, this mileage is well-tolerated by the robust 2.7L engine. The White finish further enhances its appeal, consistently commanding quicker sales and higher retention values across the Emirates and Saudi Arabia.

GL vs Lower Trims

The GL trim provides a essential upgrades over the basic fleet-focused commercial variants, including a double-cab configuration that comfortably seats five. It features power windows, central locking, and a more refined interior compared to the base Workmate grades. Crucially for this listing, the addition of the 4x4 drivetrain and automatic gearbox makes it significantly more versatile for both urban traffic and off-road site visits.

Hilux vs Segment Rivals

The Hilux leads segment rivals like the Mitsubishi L200 and Isuzu D-Max primarily through its unrivaled resale liquidity and the density of its service network. Its 80-litre fuel tank provides a longer touring range for desert crossings or cross-border drives to Oman or Saudi Arabia. While rivals may offer different tech, the Toyota’s body-on-frame construction is globally recognized for superior longevity in extreme heat.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.7L petrol engine averages approximately 10.7L/100km, making it a predictable performer in GCC stop-start city traffic. Service intervals are typically set at 10,000 km, and with one of the most extensive authorized service networks in the world, maintenance is convenient in every GCC city. This model historically enjoys the lowest depreciation rate in its class, often losing only 10-12% annually compared to 15-20% for some American or European competitors.

Performance & Capability

The 164 hp 2.7L engine is a proven unit, prioritizing torque and reliability over raw speed, which is ideal for hauling heavy loads across soft sand or gravel. The four-wheel-drive system includes a dedicated low-range transfer case, providing the mechanical leverage needed for genuine off-road recovery. With a generous ground clearance of approximately 286 mm, it easily clears standard desert obstacles and high dunes during weekend excursions.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for durability in harsh environments, featuring high-quality fabric seating that stays cooler than leather during peak GCC summers. A powerful, regional-spec air conditioning system is standard, ensuring the five-passenger cabin reaches comfortable temperatures quickly even in 45-degree heat. The layout is functional and ergonomic, providing ample storage for tools or personal items required for long-distance regional travel.

Safety

This Hilux comes equipped with essential safety systems designed for the unique challenges of GCC roads, including Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD). Dual front airbags are standard, providing critical protection, while Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Hill-Start Assist (HAC) assist in maintaining composure on both loose sand and steep inclines. A Tire Pressure Monitoring System is also included to ensure safety during long highway stretches between emirates.

The bottom line

This 2021 Hilux GL is the ideal opportunity for a buyer seeking a bulletproof, GCC-spec 4x4 that holds its value better than almost any other vehicle on the road. It is a mechanically sound, resale-ready workhorse that is perfectly adapted to the regional climate and terrain.
