Summary

This 2022 Bentley Flying Spur W12 represents a rare opportunity to own the pinnacle of the grand touring sedan before the shift to hybrid-only powertrains. With only 18,000 km, this European-spec example has seen significantly less use than the typical GCC average for its age, making it a standout choice for discerning collectors. The classic black-on-black configuration ensures maximum resale strength in the local market, where timeless luxury specifications remain in high demand. Unlike the V8 or Hybrid models, the W12 delivers an effortless, surging power delivery that is perfectly suited for the long-distance highway cruises between Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Riyadh. For a buyer seeking the ultimate executive statement with a powertrain that is now becoming a part of automotive history, this is the definitive choice.

This Car vs Other 2022 Flying Spurs

At just 18,000 km, this Flying Spur sits well below the typical 40,000–50,000 km range expected for a two-year-old vehicle in the GCC, suggesting careful ownership and light use. Its European specification is highly sought after for its specific interior trim configurations and is fully supported by major authorized specialist networks across the UAE. The black exterior is the most resilient color for resale in the region, ensuring the vehicle remains a liquid asset in the luxury segment.

W12 vs Lower Trims

The W12 trim is the definitive flagship, offering 84 extra horsepower and significantly more torque than the V8, resulting in a more refined and effortless acceleration profile. Beyond the legendary 12-cylinder engine, this trim includes the 48V Bentley Dynamic Ride anti-roll system as standard, which provides flatter cornering without sacrificing the plush ride quality essential for local roads. You also gain exclusive 'W12' fender badging and enhanced interior leather detailing that separates it from the V8 and Hybrid entries.

Flying Spur vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Rolls-Royce Ghost or the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, the Flying Spur W12 offers a more driver-centric experience while maintaining world-class rear-seat opulence. Its 90-litre fuel tank provides a superior cruising range for cross-border GCC travel compared to many electrified rivals, and its standard all-wheel steering gives it a tighter turning circle than the long-wheelbase Maybach. The Bentley strikes a unique balance, feeling like a sports sedan on the E11 highway and a private lounge in city traffic.

Running Costs & Resale

The 6.0L W12 engine is engineered for longevity but requires adherence to the 16,000 km or annual service interval, which is expertly handled by the extensive authorized network in the UAE and wider GCC. Real-world fuel consumption averages approximately 14.8 L/100km, which is competitive for a vehicle of this weight and power during steady-state highway driving. While European luxury sedans typically see a 15-18% annual depreciation, the rarity of the discontinued W12 engine is expected to provide stronger value retention compared to standard V8 models over the next three years.

Performance & Capability

The Flying Spur W12 reaches a top speed of 333 km/h, placing it among the fastest four-door sedans ever produced. The 900 Nm of torque is available almost instantly, allowing for safe and rapid overtaking on fast-moving UAE highways. The advanced Active All-Wheel Drive system defaults to rear-biased delivery for a sporty feel but can instantly shift power to the front wheels to maintain absolute stability during rare rain events or on dusty surfaces.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a sanctuary of hand-stitched leather and book-matched wood veneers, designed to isolate passengers from the extreme 45°C+ summer heat. It features four-zone climate control and ventilated seats for all five occupants, ensuring comfort during long commutes between emirates. The acoustic glass and heavy insulation significantly reduce road noise, providing a whisper-quiet environment even at high cruising speeds.

Safety

This Flying Spur is equipped with a comprehensive ADAS suite tailored for high-speed environments, including Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Assist for long desert drives. The 360-degree camera and Blind Spot Assist are particularly valuable in dense Dubai traffic, while the Night Vision infrared camera offers enhanced safety during late-night highway journeys. Ten airbags and a rigid space-frame construction provide elite-level protection for all passengers.

The bottom line

For the executive who demands the prestige of the W12 engine in a low-mileage, high-resale configuration, this European-spec Flying Spur is the most complete luxury sedan currently on the market.
