Summary

This 2022 BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport is a prime example of a driver-focused family SUV, maintaining a balance of performance and premium utility. At 4 years old with 80,525 km, its mileage reflects consistent highway use typical for GCC executives, while the Grey exterior remains a top-tier choice for resale value in the region. The M Sport trim elevates the X5 with more aggressive styling and enhanced handling, making it a standout pick for those who find competitors too soft. For the GCC owner, the combination of BMW's powerful B58 engine and the standard xDrive all-wheel-drive system ensures effortless high-speed stability on long inter-emirate journeys.

This Car vs Other 2022 X5s

With 80,525 km on the odometer, this X5 sits slightly below the GCC annual average of 25,000 km, making it a well-preserved option for its year. The Grey exterior is highly favored in the local used market for its ability to mask desert dust while retaining strong resale appeal. Choosing this GCC-spec model ensures full compatibility with regional service centers and local fuel grades compared to imported equivalents.

xDrive40i M Sport vs Lower Trims

The M Sport trim adds significant value over the base xDrive40i, most notably through the M Aerodynamics package, M Sport steering wheel, and upgraded 20-inch wheels. GCC buyers specifically benefit from the M Sport's enhanced cooling and performance-tuned adaptive suspension, which provides better composure during high-temperature highway runs. Inside, you often find upgraded materials and sports seating that are optional or unavailable on lower grades.

X5 vs Segment Rivals

The BMW X5 is consistently cross-shopped against the Mercedes-Benz GLE and Audi Q7, where it leads as the most engaging driver's car. While the GLE focuses on soft-sprung comfort and the Q7 on three-row utility, the X5 offers superior steering precision and a more responsive powertrain. Its 80-litre fuel tank provides a generous range, making it better suited for long-distance desert highway travel than many competitors with smaller tanks.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this 3.0L turbocharged engine typically averages around 10.4 L/100km, which is competitive for a vehicle of this size in GCC city-to-highway cycles. BMW's Condition Based Service (CBS) system manages maintenance intervals, typically alerting the driver every 10,000 to 12,000 km. While European luxury SUVs experience higher initial depreciation than Japanese rivals, the X5 M Sport holds its value exceptionally well in the UAE and Saudi markets due to its high demand and prestige.

Performance & Capability

With a 0–100 km/h time of just 5.4 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h, the X5 xDrive40i delivers sports-car-like acceleration that makes highway overtaking effortless. The 214 mm ground clearance and intelligent xDrive system provide more than enough capability for gravel tracks and weekend escapes to the desert's edge. Its 300 hp inline-six engine is widely regarded for its reliability and smooth power delivery, even under the stress of extreme summer heat.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is centered around the Live Cockpit Professional, featuring dual 12.3-inch displays that provide clear navigation even in bright sunlight. High-performance air conditioning and standard rear climate vents ensure the interior remains cool during the peak of the GCC summer. Acoustic insulation is excellent, keeping the cabin quiet and refined during long drives across the Emirates.

Safety

This X5 comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and Blind Spot Detection, which are essential for navigating high-speed GCC highways. The standard 360-degree camera and parking sensors make maneuvering this large SUV into tight city spaces simple. Standard stability and traction control systems are specifically tuned to handle varied surfaces, from slick city asphalt to dusty suburban roads.

The bottom line

For the professional buyer seeking a prestigious SUV that doesn't sacrifice driving dynamics for family space, this M Sport X5 is an ideal GCC-ready opportunity.
