Summary

This Dodge Durango R/T offers a compelling balance of muscle-car DNA and family logistics, featuring a robust V8 powertrain that is increasingly rare in the mid-size SUV segment. With its Grey exterior providing a stable resale profile in the GCC, this listing represents a well-maintained example with mileage slightly below the typical regional average of 25,000 km per year. The R/T trim is a specific sweet spot for buyers who require genuine towing capability and all-wheel-drive stability without moving to the extreme SRT variants. For the GCC owner, the combination of a high-capacity 93-litre fuel tank and American-engineered cooling makes it an ideal companion for long-distance travel between emirates or across borders.

This Car vs Other 2022 Durangos

With 60,700 km on the odometer, this Durango has been driven roughly 20,000 km per year, which is lower than the typical GCC average for a family SUV often used for long-range highway commuting. As a Canadian-spec vehicle, it shares the same core mechanical components as GCC-spec models, though buyers should verify local service history for maintenance continuity. The Grey exterior is a neutral, high-demand choice that maintains stronger resale value in the local used market compared to brighter or niche colors.

R/T vs Lower Trims

The R/T trim represents a significant leap over the GT, trading the V6 for the iconic 5.7L HEMI V8 engine and a heavy-duty cooling system essential for GCC summers. Inside, it introduces the superior 10.1-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen, which is noticeably faster and more feature-rich than the 8.4-inch unit found in base models. It also adds a performance-tuned suspension and steering rack, giving the vehicle a more controlled and aggressive feel on high-speed highways.

Durango vs Segment Rivals

Compared to rivals like the Ford Explorer or Honda Pilot, the Durango leads with a traditional V8 engine configuration that provides superior torque for overtaking and heavy towing. While competitors often rely on smaller turbocharged engines, the Durango's 93-litre fuel tank provides the range necessary for long desert stretches. Its rear-wheel-biased AWD system offers a more engaging driving dynamic than the front-wheel-drive based platforms common in this segment.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the HEMI V8 typically averages around 13.8 L/100km on the highway, rising in GCC stop-start city traffic, though cylinder deactivation technology helps manage costs during cruising. Dodge maintains a reliable service network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, with parts shared across several Stellantis platforms, ensuring good long-term availability. Performance-oriented V8 trims like the R/T historically hold their value better in the GCC market than entry-level V6 models due to high local demand for displacement.

Performance & Capability

The 5.7L HEMI V8 delivers 360 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque, enabling a 0–100 km/h time of approximately 6.2 seconds, which is exceptional for a seven-seat vehicle of this mass. Its maximum braked towing capacity of 3,356 kg makes it one of the most capable haulers in its class, perfect for moving boats or trailers to the coast. The All-Wheel Drive system and selectable drive modes ensure the power is delivered effectively even on sandy or rain-slicked surfaces.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is configured for seven passengers with a versatile folding third row, ensuring ample space for larger families or weekend gear. The Uconnect 5 system is the centerpiece, offering wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with a premium audio experience. The air conditioning is specifically designed to handle North American extremes, translating well to the high-heat requirements of the GCC, supported by rear-seat climate vents.

Safety

This Durango R/T comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Path Detection, which are vital for safety on multi-lane GCC highways. Standard equipment also includes Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, significantly reducing driver fatigue during long desert commutes. The vehicle is bolstered by Advanced Brake Assist and Electronic Stability Control with Roll Mitigation to maintain composure under emergency maneuvers or heavy loads.

The bottom line

For the buyer seeking American V8 power and genuine towing capability in a modern family package, this sub-average mileage R/T is one of the most practical ways to own a HEMI-powered SUV in the region today.
