Summary

This 2022 Ford Explorer Limited is a standout choice in the GCC market, offering a silver exterior that is highly favored for its heat-reflecting properties and strong resale value. With 64,500 km on the clock, its usage sits comfortably within the average range for a vehicle of this age in the region, ensuring many years of service ahead. The Limited trim strikes a perfect balance between family practicality and high-end luxury, making it a compelling alternative to more utilitarian rivals. For the GCC buyer, the combination of a fuel-efficient yet powerful EcoBoost engine and a premium cabin is ideal for both city commuting and cross-emirate highway trips. This specific listing represents a well-timed opportunity to own a modern, tech-laden SUV that is mechanically optimized for the local climate.

This Car vs Other 2022 Explorers

With an odometer reading of 64,500 km, this vehicle aligns well with the typical GCC annual driving average of 20,000–25,000 km, indicating it hasn't been subjected to excessive long-haul use. The silver finish is one of the most practical and sought-after colors in the UAE and wider Gulf, providing excellent durability against sun fade and maintaining a higher resale premium than bolder shades. Choosing a 2022 model ensures you benefit from the latest sixth-generation refinements while avoiding the steep initial depreciation of a brand-new showroom unit.

LIMITED vs Lower Trims

The Limited trim significantly elevates the ownership experience over the base and XLT versions by introducing essential GCC comforts like ventilated front seats and a premium 12-speaker B&O sound system. You also gain a 360-degree camera system, which is indispensable for navigating tight parking spots in Dubai or Riyadh, alongside leather-trimmed upholstery and power-folding third-row seats. These features are not just luxuries; they are high-demand items that directly support stronger value retention in the local used market.

Explorer vs Segment Rivals

When compared to rivals like the Toyota Highlander or Honda Pilot, the Explorer stands out with its standard 10-speed automatic transmission which provides smoother power delivery on fast-moving GCC highways. It offers a more modern turbocharged powertrain that delivers 420 Nm of torque, giving it a performance edge for overtaking at high speeds. Additionally, the Ford’s SYNC 3 infotainment system remains one of the most intuitive in the segment, often outclassing the older interfaces found in its Japanese competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.3L EcoBoost engine is designed to run efficiently on local fuel grades, typically returning around 10.0 L/100km in combined cycles, though GCC stop-start traffic will see higher figures. Ford maintains an extensive authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, with recommended oil change intervals for hot climates set at 8,000 km to protect engine longevity. The Explorer enjoys stable demand in the pre-owned market, generally depreciating at a rate of 12–15% annually, which is competitive for an American SUV in this class.

Performance & Capability

The 300 hp turbocharged engine ensures the Explorer never feels underpowered, even when fully loaded with seven passengers for a weekend trip to Salalah or Jebel Jais. A verified 0–100 km/h time of approximately 6.8 seconds provides confident acceleration for merging onto 140 km/h highways. With its Terrain Management System and a braked towing capacity of 2,268 kg, this SUV is equally capable of hauling a jet ski trailer to the coast or managing light sandy tracks during desert excursions.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is tailored for family comfort in extreme heat, featuring a high-output tri-zone climate control system with dedicated rear vents to ensure all three rows stay cool. Ventilated leather seats are a major advantage during the peak GCC summer, providing immediate relief from the humidity. The interior is spacious, offering 515 liters of boot space even with the third row in use, and up to 1,356 liters with the rear seats stowed, making it perfect for large grocery runs or family holiday luggage.

Safety

Safety is a priority with the Ford Co-Pilot360 suite, which includes Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) with Cross-Traffic Alert, essential for the multi-lane highway driving common in the Emirates. It also features a Lane-Keeping System and Automatic Emergency Braking to provide an extra layer of protection during long desert drives. The combination of seven airbags and a robust safety rating makes it one of the most secure choices for family transport in the region.

The bottom line

This Explorer Limited is the ideal match for a GCC family seeking a premium, tech-heavy SUV that is ready for the local climate without the high price tag of a new model.
