Summary

This 2022 Ford Explorer ST balances high-performance power with multi-row family versatility, presenting a strong buy in the GCC used market. Equipped with a punchy twin-turbocharged engine, it sets itself apart from standard midsize crossovers by offering genuine driving engagement alongside its practical layout. It has been driven an average distance for its age, indicating consistent highway use across the region, while its exterior finish remains a highly preferred option for local resale value. For any family-oriented buyer in the Emirates or wider GCC, the most critical ownership factor is its solid combination of reliable daily usability and excellent passing power during high-speed cross-country commutes.

This Car vs Other 2022 Explorers

With 74,730 km on the odometer, this Explorer has accumulated average mileage for its model year in the GCC region, where long highway commutes naturally lift annual figures. Its clean white paintwork provides an exceptional advantage for future resale, as it is highly favored by local buyers for its ability to deflect the intense summer heat. Choosing this vehicle ensures you get a well-maintained, highway-proven example that stands ready for years of reliable regional service.

ST vs Lower Trims

The ST trim completely transforms the Explorer experience over standard trims like the XLT or Limited by adding a performance-tuned chassis and blacked-out exterior styling cues. Inside, it rewards drivers with standard ventilated leather sport seats featuring unique contrast stitching, a high-fidelity sound system, and a 360-degree camera network. These upgrades deliver the exact tech and climate comfort that regional buyers prioritize and actively search for in the pre-owned market.

Explorer vs Segment Rivals

When compared against regional alternatives like the Toyota Highlander or Honda Pilot, the Explorer ST takes a commanding lead in pure performance and standard equipment. Its twin-turbocharged V6 powertrain provides significantly more overtaking capability on multi-lane highways than its naturally aspirated rivals. Additionally, its spacious layout ensures comfortable seating for up to seven occupants without sacrificing the robust presence expected of a modern family vehicle.

Running Costs & Resale

Equipped with a 76-litre fuel tank, this model delivers an efficient combined consumption rate of approximately 11.8 L/100km, utilizing standard unleaded petrol for routine regional driving. Ford maintains an adequate authorized service and parts network across major cities in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring predictable maintenance support. This GCC-spec vehicle retains its value noticeably better than imported American alternatives, protecting your long-term ownership investment.

Performance & Capability

The standout feature of this SUV is its exceptional 563 Nm of torque, which provides effortless acceleration and a manufacturer-rated top speed of 230 km/h. Its intelligent four-wheel-drive system works alongside selectable terrain modes to confidently manage sandy tracks, loose gravel, and sudden highway downpours. With a maximum braked towing capacity of 2,540 kg, it easily accommodates jet skis, camping trailers, or weekend leisure gear for family road trips.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin features a flexible seven-seat configuration optimized for passenger comfort during long cross-country journeys. It features essential dual-zone front climate control paired with dedicated rear cooling vents to keep all three rows perfectly chilled during peak summer months. Premium leather upholstery with dedicated front seat ventilation provides immediate relief from the midday heat, while the integrated vertical touchscreen ensures intuitive multimedia connectivity.

Safety

This model comes standard with the comprehensive Ford Co-Pilot360 suite to assist drivers on fast-moving GCC highways. Active protection technologies include blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and pre-collision assist with autonomous emergency braking. A standard 360-degree camera system simplifies parking maneuvers in tight urban spaces, while full-length side curtain airbags provide reassurance for all three rows of passengers.

The bottom line

This Ford Explorer ST is an ideal choice for an active GCC family seeking the ideal mix of everyday seven-seat utility and sport-focused performance. As a GCC-spec vehicle with a highly desirable resale color, it represents an outstanding and reliable opportunity in today's market.
