Summary

This 2022 Hyundai Tucson is a standout choice in the family crossover segment, offering a modern design and a refined driving experience. With mileage at 41,000 km, it has been driven significantly less than the typical 20,000–25,000 km annual average for the UAE, marking it as a relatively low-use vehicle for its age. The grey exterior is a highly practical and popular choice in the GCC, known for its ability to hide desert dust and maintain strong resale appeal. This specific trim bridges the gap between basic utility and modern technology, making it an excellent fit for small families or professionals commuting between emirates. For anyone seeking a contemporary SUV that balances daily practicality with a distinctive road presence, this Tucson presents a compelling opportunity.

This Car vs Other 2022 Tucsons

At 41,000 km, this Tucson’s mileage is well below the typical GCC average of 50,000–60,000 km for a two-year-old vehicle, suggesting careful use by its previous owner. The grey finish is a strategic advantage for the local market, as it resists the visible effects of sand and high-heat weathering better than darker tones. While it carries American specifications, its low wear-and-tear profile makes it a competitive alternative to higher-mileage GCC models.

COMFORT PLUS vs Lower Trims

The Comfort Plus trim enhances the standard Tucson experience by adding essential luxury and tech features often missing from base models. You will enjoy upgrades like a proximity key with push-button start and enhanced driver assistance systems, which provide added peace of mind on fast-moving UAE highways. It also typically features larger alloy wheels and improved interior materials, giving the cabin a more premium feel during long commutes.

Tucson vs Segment Rivals

The Tucson competes directly with the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V, standing out with its bolder, futuristic design and generous standard technology suite. It leads many rivals in rear legroom and overall passenger volume, making it a favorite for those who prioritize cabin comfort for five adults. Its 2.5-litre engine provides a smooth, linear power delivery that is well-suited for steady cruising across the emirates.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel economy for the 2.5L FWD powertrain typically averages around 8.1 L/100km, which is efficient for a non-hybrid SUV in this class. While American spec vehicles generally depreciate slightly faster than GCC spec models in the UAE, the lower entry price and the Tucson’s strong global reputation for reliability help offset the difference. Hyundai parts are widely available across the UAE through a vast network of independent suppliers and specialist garages.

Performance & Capability

The 190 hp engine provides reliable power for highway merging and maintaining speed on long desert roads, paired with a smooth 8-speed automatic transmission. As a front-wheel-drive crossover, it is optimized for urban and highway efficiency rather than deep sand driving, though its 181 mm ground clearance handles gravel tracks and speed humps with ease. The driving dynamics are tuned for comfort, effectively soaking up road imperfections during daily city commutes.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Tucson offers a spacious 5-seat layout with rear cooling vents, a vital feature for maintaining passenger comfort during the intense GCC summer. The 539-litre boot is deep and wide, easily accommodating four large suitcases or a week's worth of family groceries. Excellent cabin insulation helps keep the interior quiet, shielding occupants from wind noise during high-speed travel on the E11 or E311 highways.

Safety

Safety is a priority in this trim, featuring Hyundai’s SmartSense suite which includes Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist and Lane Keeping Assist. These systems are particularly valuable for long-distance driving, providing an extra layer of protection against fatigue and sudden stops in traffic. Multiple airbags and a rigid chassis design ensure the Tucson remains one of the safest vehicles in the compact SUV category.

The bottom line

For the buyer who wants a low-mileage, modern SUV with a distinct look and plenty of interior space, this Tucson is a smart and practical acquisition.
