Summary

This 2022 Kia Soul LX is a standout choice for urban commuters and small families seeking a modern, low-mileage crossover in the GCC. With just 37,000 km, it has significantly lower usage than typical regional averages, offering a fresh ownership experience. Its vibrant Red exterior is a high-visibility, popular choice that maintains solid appeal in the local used market. While rivaling other compact SUVs, the Soul stands out with its iconic boxy design that maximizes interior headroom and cargo flexibility. For GCC buyers, the widespread availability of authorized Kia service centers ensures hassle-free maintenance from Dubai to Muscat.

This Car vs Other 2022 Soul LXs

At 37,000 km, this Soul has been driven approximately 18,500 km per year, which is well below the typical GCC annual average of 25,000 km. This lower mileage means less wear on the suspension and cooling components, a major benefit in the regional climate. The Red exterior is a bold, high-resale choice that distinguishes it from the sea of white and silver commuters found on UAE roads.

LX vs Lower Trims

As the base trim for the 2022 model year, the LX includes an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard, features often missing from older base models. This specific unit benefits from the LX Technology Package, adding essential GCC driving aids like Blind-Spot Collision Warning and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert. These systems are invaluable for navigating the fast-moving, multi-lane highways typical of Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

Soul vs Segment Rivals

The Kia Soul offers superior vertical cabin space compared to the Nissan Kicks or Toyota Raize, making it better suited for taller passengers or bulky cargo. Its distinctive footprint provides a tighter turning circle than many subcompact crossovers, ideal for navigating tight parking structures in Riyadh or Dubai Marina. Furthermore, the Soul’s infotainment interface is widely regarded as more intuitive and responsive than its closest segment competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel economy for the 1.5L powertrain is highly efficient, averaging approximately 7.2L/100km in mixed GCC driving conditions. Kia maintains one of the most robust service networks in the region, with accessible parts and affordable maintenance intervals every 10,000 km. The Soul historically retains about 80-85% of its value after three years in the UAE market, outperforming many American and European rivals in the same price bracket.

Performance & Capability

The 100 hp 4-cylinder engine is tuned for urban efficiency and smooth highway cruising at regional speed limits. While primarily a road-focused crossover, the automatic transmission and elevated ground clearance provide confidence when navigating gravel paths or rain-slicked city streets during the winter months. Its compact dimensions allow for effortless overtaking and parking while maintaining a stable, composed feel at highway speeds.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed to maximize utility, featuring 60/40 split-folding rear seats that provide surprising cargo depth for a vehicle of its size. The air conditioning system is built to handle high ambient temperatures, ensuring rapid cabin cooling even during the peak of the GCC summer. Passengers benefit from high-mounted seating that provides excellent outward visibility and ease of entry/exit for all five occupants.

Safety

This Soul LX comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of safety tech including Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist and Lane Keeping Assist, which are particularly helpful during long desert highway drives. Standard electronic stability control and multiple airbags provide peace of mind for family use. The inclusion of a high-resolution rear-view camera makes reversing in crowded urban areas safer and more convenient.

The bottom line

Perfect for the value-conscious buyer who wants a modern, tech-forward crossover with the peace of mind that comes from low mileage and a massive regional service network.
