Summary

This 2022 Land Rover Defender 90 P525 is a rare find in the GCC market, combining the iconic short-wheelbase silhouette with the flagship supercharged V8 powertrain. At four years old with 98,000 km, its mileage reflects consistent highway use across the Emirates, while the black exterior remains the most sought-after color for retaining value in the region. The P525 trim stands in a league of its own compared to the standard P300 or P400, offering a level of mechanical character and straight-line speed that rivals high-end sports cars. For a buyer in the GCC, this listing represents the opportunity to own a modern classic that handles the daily city commute and desert weekend trips with equal authority.

This Car vs Other 2022 Defender 90s

With 98,000 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been driven roughly 24,500 km per year, which aligns perfectly with typical GCC annual usage for luxury SUVs. While many Defender 90s in the market are equipped with the smaller four or six-cylinder engines, this P525 V8 model is a significantly more exclusive offering that commands higher interest at resale. The black-on-black configuration is a high-demand specification in the UAE and Saudi markets, ensuring it stands out for its aggressive presence and long-term liquidity.

P525 vs Lower Trims

The P525 is the range-topping flagship, replacing the standard suspension with a specially tuned Electronic Air Suspension and an Electronic Active Rear Differential for superior cornering. Inside, it adds premium touches like the ClearSight interior rear-view mirror, a head-up display, and a 14-speaker Meridian Surround Sound system as standard. GCC buyers will particularly appreciate the upgraded three-zone climate control and cabin air purification system, features often optional on the P400 X-Dynamic.

Defender 90 vs Segment Rivals

The Defender 90 V8 occupies a unique niche, offering more off-road hardware than a Mercedes-AMG G63 while being significantly more maneuverable in urban traffic than a Jeep Wrangler 392. Its 900 mm wading depth and sophisticated Terrain Response 2 system provide a level of technical capability that competitors struggle to match in deep sand or flooded wadis. Furthermore, the 5.0L supercharged engine provides a linear power delivery that is better suited for high-heat GCC conditions than highly stressed, smaller turbocharged rivals.

Running Costs & Resale

The supercharged V8 delivers a real-world combined fuel consumption of approximately 14.5 L/100km, though this can rise in stop-start Dubai or Riyadh traffic. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it benefits from a robust cooling system designed for 50°C+ summers and enjoys full support from authorized service centers like Al Tayer and Euro Motors across the region. While European luxury SUVs typically depreciate by 12-18% annually, the Defender 90 V8 has shown exceptional value retention due to its status as a discontinued powertrain icon.

Performance & Capability

The heart of this machine is the 518 hp V8, propelling this SUV to 100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds with a distinct quad-exhaust growl. On the highway, it offers effortless overtaking power, while the short wheelbase provides a 31-degree breakover angle that makes it a weapon in the dunes of Al Qudra or Liwa. The adjustable air suspension allows you to raise the ground clearance to a maximum of 291 mm, ensuring you can clear obstacles that would stop almost any other production vehicle.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a masterclass in 'rugged luxury,' featuring Windsor leather and Miko Suedecloth seats that are both heated and ventilated—essential for the Arabian summer. The 11.4-inch Pivi Pro touchscreen is fast and intuitive, providing 360-degree camera views that are invaluable for parking the wide body in tight mall spaces. Despite its compact exterior, the 5-seat layout provides ample legroom for adults, while the refrigerator compartment in the center console keeps drinks cold during long cross-country drives.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on the P525 is comprehensive, featuring a 3D Surround Camera system with 'ClearSight Ground View' to see through the hood while navigating tricky terrain. It includes a full suite of ADAS features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Assist, and Rear Traffic Monitor, which are vital for safety on fast-moving multi-lane highways like E11. The vehicle is also equipped with six airbags and Wade Sensing technology to monitor water depth in real-time.

The bottom line

This is the ultimate version of the modern Defender for the enthusiast who refuses to settle for anything less than V8 power. It is a perfect match for a UAE-based professional who wants a stylish, high-performance daily driver that can dominate the desert on the weekends.
