Summary

This 2022 Land Rover Range Rover HSE represents a sophisticated choice for the discerning GCC buyer who requires a blend of executive presence and genuine all-terrain capability. With its 3.0L inline-six engine producing 400 hp, it offers a more balanced and efficient alternative to the V8 variants while maintaining the effortless acceleration expected of the brand. Given that average annual mileage in the region typically falls between 20,000 and 25,000 km, this vehicle's current odometer reading is perfectly aligned with a well-maintained, three-year-old luxury SUV in the UAE. The black-on-black color configuration is arguably the most sought-after combination in the secondary market, ensuring this listing holds its value exceptionally well compared to more niche colors. This being a GCC-spec vehicle is a critical advantage, as it ensures the cooling systems and electronics are specifically engineered to withstand the intense summer heat of the Arabian Peninsula. For anyone looking to graduate into the flagship Range Rover experience with a modern, tech-heavy interior and the updated P400 powertrain, this HSE trim provides the ideal entry point without the steeper depreciation curve of a brand-new showroom model.

This Car vs Other 2022 Range Rovers

When examining the 2022 model year, it is important to distinguish this vehicle from the high-mileage examples often found in the regional used market. With approximately 78,000 km on the clock, this car has been driven roughly 26,000 km per year, which is a standard and healthy usage pattern for a primary executive vehicle in the GCC. Many 2022 models currently available have either been underutilized, leading to potential seal and battery issues from sitting in the heat, or over-extended on long inter-emirate commutes; this car sits in the 'Goldilocks' zone of consistent mechanical exercise and careful ownership. The exterior black finish is a high-demand resale asset in cities like Dubai and Riyadh, where it commands a quicker sale turnaround than lighter or more experimental shades. Furthermore, as a GCC-spec example, it retains its full value and serviceability at authorized dealers across the region, unlike imported North American or European models which often face warranty and radio frequency compatibility issues. This specific car represents a transparent and predictable ownership proposition for someone who values a documented regional history.

HSE vs Lower Trims

Choosing the HSE trim over the standard SE provides a significant jump in the daily luxury experience, most notably through the inclusion of higher-grade Windsor leather and more sophisticated seat adjustments. While lower trims might offer the basic Range Rover silhouette, the HSE adds the premium Meridian Sound System as standard, which is essential for maintaining acoustic clarity during long highway drives across the desert. You also benefit from the 360-degree 3D Surround Camera system, a feature that becomes indispensable when navigating tight parking structures in modern malls or maneuvering the vehicle's footprint in urban traffic. The HSE specifically includes the upgraded Pixel LED headlights, which offer superior visibility during nighttime desert highway stints compared to the standard LED units found on base models. Inside, the cabin is further elevated with genuine wood veneers and enhanced ambient lighting that allows for a more personalized evening atmosphere. For the GCC buyer, the most important HSE upgrade is often the enhanced climate control and seat ventilation functionality, which operates with greater efficiency and depth than the systems found in entry-level specifications.

Range Rover vs Segment Rivals

The Range Rover competes in a rarified space alongside the BMW X7 and the Mercedes-Benz GLS, but it maintains a clear lead in terms of 'go-anywhere' prestige. While the German rivals often feel like elongated road-going wagons, the Range Rover's command driving position provides a superior view of the road, which is a major safety and comfort benefit on the multi-lane highways of the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Its 3.0L powertrain is more than a match for the BMW xDrive40i, offering a smoother torque delivery that is better suited for the heavy-footed nature of regional traffic. In terms of off-road heritage, neither the GLS nor the X7 can match the Terrain Response 2 system found here; this car can transition from a gala dinner at the Burj Al Arab to a soft-sand weekend in the dunes without a single modification. The fuel tank capacity is also optimized for long-distance touring, allowing for fewer stops on the long trek between Abu Dhabi and Muscat compared to smaller-tanked luxury crossovers. Additionally, the Range Rover brand carries a unique level of social capital in the GCC that its competitors simply cannot replicate, making it the preferred choice for business leaders and government officials alike.

Running Costs & Resale

Owning a Range Rover in the GCC is a premium experience that is supported by an extensive network of Al Tayer and Euro Motors service centers across the UAE and Bahrain. Real-world fuel consumption for this 3.0L 6-cylinder engine typically averages around 10.5 to 11.5 L/100km on the highway, though city driving in stop-start traffic in Dubai or Doha will see that rise to roughly 14 L/100km. Service intervals are generally every 13,000 km or 12 months, and because this is a petrol GCC-spec car, parts are readily available at every major dealership and specialized independent shop in the region. Historically, the Range Rover holds its value better than almost any other European luxury SUV in the Middle East, with the HSE trim being the 'sweet spot' for resale liquidity. While you can expect a depreciation rate of approximately 12-15% annually, the high demand for black GCC models means you will always find a ready pool of buyers when it comes time to upgrade. This car also avoids the common pitfalls of the older V8 engines, offering lower long-term maintenance costs for the air suspension and cooling components, which are the most frequent service items in our high-temperature climate.

Performance & Capability

The heart of this 2022 Range Rover is the 400 hp mild-hybrid engine, which propels this large SUV from 0-100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds—a figure that is incredibly impressive for a vehicle of this stature. This performance is particularly useful for overtaking on the E11 or merging into fast-moving traffic, where the 550 Nm of torque provides an immediate and confident response. The All Wheel Drive system is managed by the world-class Terrain Response 2 technology, which automatically adjusts the engine, gearbox, and chassis settings to match the surface beneath you, whether it's gravel, mud, or the fine sand found in the Liwa desert. With a ground clearance of up to 295 mm thanks to the adjustable air suspension, you can clear obstacles that would stop a standard SUV in its tracks. The towing capacity remains a stout 3,500 kg, making it easy to haul jet skis or horse trailers for weekend activities. Even at high cruising speeds of 140 km/h, the vehicle remains remarkably planted and silent, thanks to the sophisticated aerodynamics and active noise cancellation technology that comes standard in this generation.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior of the Range Rover HSE is a sanctuary of calm designed to insulate passengers from the harsh outside environment of the GCC. The five-seat layout ensures that every occupant has ample legroom and headroom, with the rear seats offering enough space for three adults to travel in total comfort across international borders. The air conditioning system is world-renowned for its ability to drop the cabin temperature from 50°C to a comfortable 20°C in a matter of minutes, a feat that many European imports struggle to achieve. Front and rear passengers benefit from dedicated cooling zones and ventilated seats that are essential for the long summer months. The Pivi Pro infotainment system is displayed on a crisp, curved glass touchscreen that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ensuring you stay connected between meetings. Noise insulation is top-tier, with acoustic laminated glass used throughout to keep the roar of the highway and the whistling of the desert wind at bay. The boot space is cavernous, easily swallowing multiple sets of golf clubs or a full family's luggage for a staycation at a remote desert resort.

Safety

Safety in the 2022 Range Rover HSE is comprehensive, earning it a 5-Star NCAP rating through a combination of high-strength aluminum architecture and advanced electronic interventions. The vehicle features a suite of ADAS technologies that are particularly relevant for GCC drivers, such as Adaptive Cruise Control with Steering Assist, which takes the stress out of the long, straight highways between major cities. Blind Spot Assist is a standard feature that is vital on the multi-lane roads of Dubai and Riyadh, where high-speed lane changes are frequent. Emergency Braking and Lane Keep Assist provide a constant safety net, while the Rear Traffic Monitor makes reversing out of parking spots in crowded areas much safer. The clear-sight interior rear-view mirror ensures you have an unobstructed view behind you, even if the boot is packed to the roof. Furthermore, the robust All Wheel Drive system and Dynamic Stability Control work in tandem to keep the vehicle stable during sudden maneuvers on sand-blown or rain-slicked asphalt, providing peace of mind for you and your family.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec 2022 Range Rover HSE is the perfect acquisition for the professional who needs a prestigious daily driver that can handle the rigors of the Middle Eastern climate without the reliability concerns of an import. It offers the ideal balance of mileage, trim level, and iconic styling, making it a safe and high-status investment in today's used market.
