Summary

This 2022 Range Rover Sport SVR represents the final and most refined year of its generation, making it a highly sought-after performance SUV in the GCC. With a supercharged V8 producing 575 horsepower, it offers a raw mechanical character that newer downsized engines struggle to replicate. The black-on-black color scheme is a major advantage for local resale, consistently ranking as one of the most preferred combinations in the UAE market. Despite being a European spec, the vehicle is well-suited for the region's fast-paced highways, though buyers should note the specific maintenance standards required for high-performance SVO models. At 57,000 km, the mileage is well within the expected range for a 2022 model in a region where long-distance commutes are standard.

This Car vs Other 2022 Range Rover Sports

At 57,000 km, this SVR has been driven roughly 19,000 km per year, which is slightly below the typical GCC average of 25,000 km for performance SUVs. As a final-year model of this body style, it benefits from the most updated infotainment hardware available for this generation. The black exterior is a premier resale choice in the UAE, ensuring faster liquidity compared to niche or brighter colors.

SVR vs Lower Trims

The SVR is a significant leap over the HSE Dynamic, adding the high-output 575 hp V8 and a bespoke SVR-tuned air suspension designed for flat cornering at high speeds. Inside, you get SVR-specific lightweight performance seats and an active exhaust system that provides a distinct, aggressive soundtrack not found on standard V8 models. This trim also includes the 360-degree surround camera system and unique carbon fiber exterior accents as standard.

Range Rover Sport vs Segment Rivals

The SVR competes directly with the BMW X5 M and Porsche Cayenne Turbo, leading the group with its unique supercharged engine delivery and off-road heritage. While rivals lean toward track-only focus, the SVR maintains a 278 mm maximum ground clearance and superior wading depth for versatile weekend use. Its 104-liter fuel tank is specifically advantageous for long-distance desert highway drives between Abu Dhabi and Riyadh.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption typically averages 12.8 L/100km, though this increases in stop-start city traffic in Dubai or Riyadh. As a European spec vehicle, it requires high-octane 98 fuel to maintain performance and engine health in extreme heat. Land Rover has an extensive authorized service network through Al Tayer in the UAE and Mohamed Yousuf Naghi in Saudi Arabia, ensuring parts for the 5.0L V8 are readily available. While European luxury SUVs depreciate faster than Japanese rivals, the SVR trim holds value significantly better than the standard SE or HSE trims due to its enthusiast appeal.

Performance & Capability

The SVR clocks a 0-100 km/h time of just 4.5 seconds, providing effortless overtaking power on 140 km/h UAE highways. The All-Wheel Drive system is paired with Terrain Response 2, allowing the car to adjust its chassis and powertrain for sand, gravel, or wet tarmac instantly. With a 3,000 kg braked towing capacity, it is as capable of hauling leisure equipment as it is of hitting its 283 km/h top speed.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin features a driver-focused layout with 16-way adjustable sport seats that provide excellent lateral support during spirited drives. For the GCC climate, the four-zone automatic climate control and front refrigerator compartment are essential for maintaining comfort during summer months. The 19-speaker Meridian surround sound system provides acoustic clarity that remains undisturbed by the vehicle's high-performance exhaust at cruising speeds.

Safety

This SVR comes equipped with a full suite of driver assistance technologies, including Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and Forward Collision Mitigation. These systems are particularly valuable on multi-lane GCC highways where high speed differentials are common. The 360-degree camera system makes navigating tight parking structures in Dubai Marina or downtown Riyadh effortless despite the vehicle's muscular proportions.

The bottom line

For the performance enthusiast who wants the last great supercharged V8 Range Rover, this 2022 SVR offers the perfect balance of mileage, local resale appeal, and raw power.
