Summary

This 2022 GLS 450 4MATIC represents a balanced choice for GCC families, offering silver exterior paint which is highly favored for its heat-deflecting properties and strong resale value in the region. As a full-size seven-seater, it dominates the luxury SUV segment by blending S-Class levels of refinement with genuine utility, outclassing smaller crossovers in pure cabin volume. With mileage that reflects typical highway-heavy commuting between emirates, this American-spec example provides significant savings over local GCC-spec alternatives while maintaining mechanical commonality for easy servicing. The 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six is a reliable workhorse, ideally suited for long desert highway drives and high-temperature summer traffic. For a buyer seeking the best-in-class third-row comfort and premium tech, this listing is a compelling entry into the flagship Mercedes SUV range.

This Car vs Other 2022 GLS450s

With approximately 96,000 km, this vehicle's mileage is consistent with average annual use in the GCC, where long-distance highway driving is standard. The silver finish is one of the top three most desirable colors in the local market, ensuring it stays cooler under the summer sun and holds its value better than niche colors. As a 2022 model, it benefits from the updated MBUX system and refined interior materials that keep it competitive with much newer releases.

4MATIC vs Lower Trims

As the GLS is the flagship SUV, the 450 4MATIC trim comes standard with features that are often optional on lower-tier models like the GLE, including standard ventilated front seats and four-zone climate control. It also features the AIRMATIC air suspension as standard, providing a smooth ride quality that lower trims lack. This specific trim includes the 48V mild-hybrid EQ Boost system, which aids in smoother stop-start traffic performance in busy city centers.

GLS450 vs Segment Rivals

The GLS 450 offers a more adult-friendly third row than the BMW X7, making it a superior choice for large families who utilize all seven seats regularly. Compared to the Range Rover, the Mercedes provides a more intuitive technology interface and a significantly larger maximum cargo capacity when the seats are folded. Its 90-litre fuel tank ensures fewer stops during long-distance cross-border trips compared to many rivals with smaller tanks.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.0-litre mild-hybrid powertrain averages approximately 11.5 L/100km combined, offering respectable efficiency for a full-size SUV during highway cruising. Service intervals in the GCC are typically recommended every 15,000 km, and authorized Mercedes-Benz service centers are widely available across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. While this American-spec model may not carry a local dealer warranty, parts are identical to GCC-spec cars, ensuring no difficulty in finding components at local garages.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with 367 hp and 500 Nm of torque, the GLS 450 reaches 100 km/h in a swift 6.2 seconds, providing effortless overtaking power on high-speed highways. The 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system and adjustable air suspension allow the vehicle to clear sand-covered roads or light gravel paths with ease during weekend outings. Its 3,500 kg towing capacity is robust enough to pull large boats or jet ski trailers, common for leisure activities in the UAE.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a true seven-seat environment with 886 mm of third-row legroom, ensuring even adults are comfortable on longer journeys. GCC-essential features include ventilated front seats and a powerful four-zone climate control system that ensures rapid cooling even when parked in direct sunlight. Dual 12.3-inch screens provide a digital cockpit experience, while the silver exterior paired with high-quality cabin insulation keeps the interior quiet and thermally protected.

Safety

This GLS 450 is equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including a 360° camera for easier parking of its 5.2-meter frame and Blind Spot Assist, which is vital for multi-lane highway driving. Standard features also include Active Brake Assist, Pre-Safe protection, and seven airbags to ensure maximum occupant safety. Adaptive braking technology provides confident stopping power even when the vehicle is fully loaded with seven passengers and cargo.

The bottom line

This 2022 GLS 450 is the perfect match for a family prioritizing space and German refinement at a lower entry price point. It represents a smart opportunity to own a modern flagship SUV that is perfectly specced for the GCC climate.
