Summary

This 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLS450 4MATIC represents a balanced choice in the full-size luxury segment, particularly for those seeking high-occupancy comfort without the depreciation curve of a brand-new model. While the mileage reflects the active, highway-heavy lifestyle typical of the UAE, the white exterior remains a top-tier choice for heat rejection and high resale demand in the local market. As the 'S-Class of SUVs,' it provides a level of refinement that rivals struggle to match, especially during cross-country drives across the GCC. For the frequent traveler between emirates, the combination of a smooth 6-cylinder mild-hybrid powertrain and a large fuel tank makes it a superior long-distance cruiser.

This Car vs Other 2022 GLS450s

With 163,122 km over 4 years, this vehicle has been utilized more frequently than the typical 20,000–25,000 km annual average for the GCC. However, these kilometers are often accumulated on smooth, well-maintained highways like E11 or E311, which are far less taxing on the suspension and transmission than city stop-start traffic. The white paint is the most practical and sought-after color for the region, ensuring better thermal management and easier resale compared to darker shades.

4MATIC vs Lower Trims

As the core luxury configuration, this 4MATIC trim includes the advanced AIRMATIC adaptive air suspension and a 360-degree surround-view camera as standard—features often missing on lower-spec imports. It also boasts the premium Burmester surround-sound system and ventilated front seats, which are essential for maintaining comfort during the intense GCC summer months. The mild-hybrid EQ Boost system provides a seamless torque fill that is not available in earlier generations of the model.

GLS450 vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the BMW X7, the GLS offers a more generous third row and a larger 90-litre fuel tank, providing superior range for long desert highway stretches. While the Range Rover excels in off-road hardware, the GLS leads in on-road refinement and interior tech stability through the MBUX interface. Its luggage capacity behind the third row is also significantly larger than most rivals in this class, making it a more practical choice for large families.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the mild-hybrid 6-cylinder engine typically averages around 9.2L/100km on the highway, though city driving in heavy Dubai or Riyadh traffic will see this increase. Mercedes-Benz maintains a massive authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring parts and expert technicians are always accessible. While German luxury SUVs generally depreciate by 12–18% annually in the GCC, the white GLS450 4MATIC remains one of the most liquid assets in the used premium market due to its high demand for family and executive use.

Performance & Capability

The turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-6 delivers 362 hp and 500 Nm of torque, enabling a manufacturer-claimed 0–100 km/h time of 6.2 seconds. This power is managed by the 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission, providing effortless overtaking on fast-moving highways even when fully loaded with seven passengers. The AIRMATIC suspension can raise the vehicle to navigate light gravel or sand tracks for weekend outings, while the standard 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system ensures maximum stability during occasional desert rainstorms.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is a true seven-seater with a power-folding third row and dedicated climate zones for rear passengers to combat high external temperatures. Standard acoustic glass helps isolate the cabin from wind noise during high-speed highway cruising, creating a serene environment for the Burmester audio system. Ventilated seats and a high-performance air conditioning system ensure the cabin reaches a comfortable temperature quickly after being parked in the sun.

Safety

This trim is equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including Active Brake Assist, Blind Spot Assist, and the Pre-Safe system which prepares the cabin for an imminent collision. Adaptive cruise control is particularly useful for reducing driver fatigue on the long, straight highways between major GCC cities. The 360-degree camera system is a critical aid for maneuvering this large SUV into tight parking spaces in busy urban centers.

The bottom line

Perfect for the GCC-based family that prioritizes space and highway refinement, this white GLS450 offers a high-specification luxury experience with a color and trim profile that ensures strong local market desirability.
