Summary

This 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander GLX Highline offers a practical and dependable solution for GCC families requiring three-row versatility without the high running costs of a full-sized 4x4. With mileage of 90,000 km over four years, this SUV has been used consistently for regional commuting, ensuring its naturally aspirated 2.4L engine is well-maintained within its prime operational window. The silver exterior is a top-tier choice for the local market, providing excellent heat reflection and maintaining strong resale liquidity across the Emirates. Its proven All Wheel Drive system and robust air conditioning make it perfectly suited for both daily school runs and long-distance highway trips. For a buyer seeking Japanese reliability and modern safety in a compact footprint, this Outlander remains a highly strategic purchase.

This Car vs Other 2022 Outlanders

With 90,000 km on the odometer, this vehicle sits within the expected mileage range for a four-year-old SUV in the GCC, where annual averages typically reach 25,000 km due to highway-heavy commuting. The silver finish is one of the most resilient colors for the local climate, effectively masking desert dust and resisting paint fade from intense sun exposure. Compared to many imported units, this GCC-spec example benefits from cooling systems and components specifically calibrated for the region's extreme operating temperatures.

GLX HIGHLINE FABRIC vs Lower Trims

The GLX Highline trim provides essential upgrades over the base GLX, including a more refined cabin with premium fabric upholstery designed for durability and breathability in high heat. It often adds convenience features such as cruise control and rear parking sensors that are frequently omitted on entry-level versions. These additions significantly improve the daily driving experience and provide a clear advantage at resale, as GCC buyers prioritize these comfort-focused specifications.

Outlander vs Segment Rivals

The Outlander holds a unique position against rivals like the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V by offering a standard third row of seating, providing seven-seat capacity in a more maneuverable footprint. While competitors focus on five-seat layouts, the Mitsubishi caters to larger families while maintaining better fuel efficiency than heavy body-on-frame SUVs. Its All Wheel Drive system is particularly valued in the region for providing extra stability during occasional rain-slicked roads or gravel paths.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.4L powertrain averages approximately 9.5 to 11 L/100km, making it an economical choice for long-distance cruising across the GCC. Maintenance is straightforward and cost-effective thanks to Mitsubishi's extensive authorized service network spanning the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. The model is known for high residual value, typically retaining a larger percentage of its original price compared to European or American competitors after the four-year mark.

Performance & Capability

The 170 hp naturally aspirated engine delivers reliable power for highway overtaking and city merging, paired with a smooth automatic transmission for effortless daily use. With 190 mm of ground clearance, it easily manages high curbs and uneven terrain often encountered in developing suburban areas. The selectable drive modes allow the driver to optimize the All Wheel Drive system for different surfaces, ensuring confidence during weekend family road trips between emirates.

Comfort & Cabin

The seven-seat interior is designed for family logistics, featuring a flexible 40/20/40 split second row to accommodate long cargo items while maintaining passenger comfort. Specialized rear climate vents ensure that even third-row occupants remain cool during the peak of the Gulf summer. The cabin insulation is specifically tuned to reduce road and wind noise, creating a quiet environment for long highway stretches.

Safety

Standard safety features on this trim include a comprehensive airbag system and essential electronic stability controls suited for varied GCC driving surfaces. The inclusion of rear parking sensors and a reinforced impact-safety body provides peace of mind in congested urban traffic. Unlike many entry-level SUVs, the Outlander's braking system is engineered to handle the demands of heavy loads and high-speed highway stops common in regional traffic flow.

The bottom line

Perfect for a growing family that needs seven seats and Japanese reliability, this GCC-spec Outlander offers a balanced mix of utility and strong resale value in the current market.
