Summary

This 2022 silver metallic SUV represents one of the most practical and high-value configurations available in the local market. With the efficient V6 powertrain and the highly-appointed trim level, it strikes a perfect balance between daily city comfort and rugged off-road readiness. Being a modern GCC-spec model, it offers the ultimate peace of mind regarding cooling performance and long-term resale stability in a region that prizes this specific nameplate above almost all others. The silver exterior is not just a stylistic choice but a strategic one for the GCC, as it deflects heat effectively and holds its value exceptionally well during resale. For a buyer looking for a dependable eight-seater that can handle the school run, executive commuting, and weekend desert explorations without the high running costs of a V8, this is an excellent opportunity. Its mileage is perfectly aligned with typical UAE usage patterns, ensuring the mechanical components are well-conditioned for years of future service.

This Car vs Other 2022 Patrols

At 85,000 km, this vehicle's usage is right on par with the average GCC annual driving rhythm of 25,000 to 30,000 km, which is standard for large family SUVs used for inter-emirate travel. Many of these vehicles serve as primary family haulers, so finding one that has been consistently maintained within the GCC network is a significant advantage. The silver exterior is a top-tier choice for the local market, making it far easier to maintain and sell later compared to more niche colors. While some 2022 models might show lower mileage, those often come from purely urban environments; a vehicle with these kilometers has likely enjoyed long highway runs, which is often better for the engine's longevity and transmission health. This specific example remains under the sweet spot of its lifecycle where the most aggressive depreciation has already occurred, yet it retains a nearly-new interior and exterior feel.

SE PLATINUM CITY vs Lower Trims

The SE Platinum City trim is a massive leap over the base XE and SE T2 variants, specifically focusing on the aesthetics and technology that GCC buyers demand. It introduces the more sophisticated 'City' bumper design which gives the vehicle a more planted and premium look on the road. Inside, the cabin is transformed with high-quality materials and an upgraded infotainment system that includes a 360-degree around-view monitor, an essential tool for parking a vehicle of this size in tight city spaces. You also benefit from a sunroof and a power tailgate, features often missing in lower specifications but considered essential for a luxury SUV experience. Crucially, this trim level includes the advanced suspension tuning that provides a much smoother ride on the highway compared to the entry-level configurations.

Patrol vs Segment Rivals

When compared to rivals like the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 or the Chevrolet Tahoe, this model stands out for its legendary ride comfort and interior space. The 4.0L V6 offers a more economical entry point into the large SUV segment than the Tahoe’s V8, while still providing the heavy-duty off-road hardware that rivals like the Ford Expedition often lack in their base forms. It features a best-in-class approach to cabin insulation, keeping the interior whisper-quiet even at 140 km/h on the E11. Furthermore, the seating flexibility for eight passengers is more generous in the third row than many crossovers in this price bracket. The massive fuel tank capacity is a hallmark of this model, allowing for long-distance desert trips or cross-border drives without the constant need to search for a petrol station.

Running Costs & Resale

The 4.0L V6 engine is specifically designed to run efficiently on local fuel grades, and owners can expect real-world fuel consumption to be significantly lower than the V8 variants, especially in stop-and-go traffic in Dubai or Riyadh. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km, and with one of the largest authorized service networks in the world spanning the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Kuwait, parts are affordable and readily available. This model boasts the lowest depreciation rate in its class, often retaining up to 80% of its value after three years, which is unheard of in the luxury SUV segment. Historically, GCC-spec versions of this vehicle are highly sought after in the secondary market, ensuring you can liquidate the asset quickly when it is time to upgrade. Insurance premiums also tend to be very competitive due to the vehicle's high safety standards and the widespread availability of replacement panels.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with 275 horsepower and a robust four-wheel-drive system, this SUV is built for more than just paved roads. It features a proper low-range transfer case and multiple terrain modes (Sand, On-road, Snow, and Rock) that allow even novice drivers to tackle the dunes of Sharjah or the mountains of Hatta with confidence. On the highway, the 0-100 km/h performance is smooth and linear, providing enough torque for confident overtaking. Ground clearance is among the best in the segment, ensuring that speed bumps and off-road obstacles are handled with ease. The 140-liter fuel tank is a genuine game-changer for GCC owners, providing a massive cruising range that makes long-distance travel between Abu Dhabi and Muscat much more convenient.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is a sanctuary designed to combat the intense GCC summer heat, featuring a high-capacity air conditioning system that is widely regarded as the best in the industry. Second and third-row passengers benefit from dedicated ceiling-mounted vents that ensure the entire cabin reaches the desired temperature in minutes. The eight-seat configuration is highly versatile, allowing the second and third rows to fold flat for massive cargo capacity. Sound dampening is extensive, significantly reducing road and wind noise for a premium experience. Even with all seats in use, there is still respectable room for groceries or weekend bags. The tech interface is intuitive, featuring smartphone integration and a premium sound system that makes long commutes across the Emirates a pleasure.

Safety

Safety is paramount in this trim, which comes standard with a comprehensive suite of driver-assist technologies. High-speed highway driving is made safer by the inclusion of blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, which are invaluable on multi-lane roads. The vehicle is built on a high-strength chassis that has earned a 5-Star safety rating, providing exceptional protection for all eight occupants. Standard features also include cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, and a sophisticated stability control system that maintains composure during sudden maneuvers or on loose surfaces like gravel and sand. Multiple airbags come as standard, ensuring that family safety is never compromised regardless of the terrain.

The bottom line

For the GCC family or executive who needs a legendary 4x4 with modern tech and lower running costs, this SE Platinum City is the perfect choice. It is a 'smart buy' because it offers the prestige and capability of the flagship model while maintaining the highest possible resale value in the UAE market.
