Toyota Land Cruiser GXR 4.0 L

Highlights

• 312 mm maximum ground clearance
• 110-litre fuel tank
• Multi-Terrain Select with Crawl Control standard

Summary

This 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser GXR is a standout opportunity in the GCC market, offering the legendary durability of the LC300 platform with surprisingly low mileage for a four-year-old SUV. While the average vehicle of this age in the region often nears the 100,000 km mark, this example has covered just 36,331 km, ensuring plenty of life remains in its naturally aspirated V6. The GXR trim strikes the perfect balance for local buyers, providing essential tech and safety upgrades over the base model while maintaining the bulletproof mechanical simplicity Toyota is known for. Finished in a versatile Blue, it offers a refreshing alternative to the sea of white and silver SUVs while retaining strong resale desirability. For any GCC owner, the combination of a massive fuel range and an unrivaled service network makes this the definitive choice for both city commuting and cross-border expeditions.

This Car vs Other 2022 Land Cruisers

With just 36,331 km on the odometer, this Land Cruiser has covered significantly less distance than the typical 80,000–100,000 km expected for a four-year-old vehicle in the GCC. This low usage represents a major advantage for long-term value retention and mechanical longevity. The Blue exterior is a sophisticated choice that stands out in the UAE market while remaining a safe bet for future resale.

GXR vs Lower Trims

The GXR trim provides a significant leap in daily usability over the entry-level EXR, adding essential features like a power-adjustable driver's seat and a more refined synthetic leather-wrapped interior. It also introduces the high-quality 9-inch infotainment display and a wireless charger, which are frequent requirements for modern families in the region. Most importantly, it gains additional parking sensors and a more robust suite of safety assists that make navigating tight city spaces much easier.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

When compared to rivals like the Nissan Patrol or the Ford Expedition, the Land Cruiser leads with its superior 312 mm ground clearance and a massive 110-litre fuel tank, designed specifically for long-distance desert crossings. While others focus on soft-road comfort, the Toyota utilizes a dedicated body-on-frame construction that handles the extreme heat and rough terrain of the Middle East with unmatched poise. Its specialized air conditioning system is widely considered the best in class for maintaining cabin frostiness during 50°C summers.

Running Costs & Resale

The 4.0L V6 is a highly efficient choice for city driving compared to larger V8 alternatives, with real-world fuel consumption averaging around 10.6 L/100km on highways. Toyota's authorized service network is the most extensive in the GCC, ensuring parts and expert maintenance are available from Salalah to Kuwait City. Historically, the Land Cruiser GXR maintains one of the highest resale values in the region, typically depreciating only 8-10% annually compared to 15% or more for European luxury rivals.

Performance & Capability

The 271 hp V6 engine provides smooth, linear power delivery that is ideal for the stop-start traffic of Riyadh or Dubai and remains unstressed during long highway cruises. For weekend adventurers, the standard Multi-Terrain Select and Crawl Control systems allow this SUV to navigate deep sand and rocky wadis with professional-grade capability. Its 4WD system is permanent, ensuring maximum grip on both rain-slicked tarmac and loose gravel surfaces common across the Emirates.

Comfort & Cabin

This seven-seater configuration is perfectly suited for large families, featuring a dual-zone climate control system with dedicated rear cooling vents to keep every passenger comfortable in peak summer. The cabin is well-insulated from road noise, creating a quiet environment for long-distance travel between emirates. High-quality synthetic leather seats and a leather-trimmed steering wheel add a touch of executive luxury to what is fundamentally a rugged workhorse.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on the GXR includes a comprehensive airbag system and essential driver aids like Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, which are invaluable for fast-moving multi-lane highway traffic. The vehicle also features Stability Control and Traction Control optimized for sand and slippery surfaces, providing a secure driving experience regardless of the weather or terrain. ISOFIX points in the second row ensure that family safety remains the top priority.

The bottom line

This low-mileage GCC-spec GXR is the ideal choice for a buyer who wants the prestige and capability of the LC300 without the premium price of a twin-turbo model. It represents a secure, high-utility investment that is perfectly prepared for the unique demands of the Middle Eastern climate.
