Toyota Land Cruiser GXR 4.0 L

Highlights

• Full-time all-wheel drive with low-range transfer case
• 271 hp from a 4.0L V6 naturally aspirated engine
• Strong value retention in the GCC used market

Summary

This 2023 Toyota Land Cruiser GXR is a prime example of the LC300 series, offering a perfect balance of modern engineering and proven mechanical simplicity. With just 32,979 km on the clock, it has been driven significantly less than the typical 60,000–75,000 km expected for a three-year-old vehicle in the GCC, making it a highly attractive long-term prospect. The Black exterior is a perennially popular resale choice in the region, ensuring the car remains a liquid asset. As a GCC-spec model with the reliable 4.0L V6, it is specifically engineered to handle the intense summer heat and long-distance highway hauls common in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. For a buyer seeking the legendary durability of a Land Cruiser without the complexity of twin-turbo systems, this low-mileage GXR is a standout choice.

This Car vs Other 2023 Land Cruisers

While many 2023 Land Cruisers in the GCC used market have already surpassed the 50,000 km mark due to cross-emirate commuting, this vehicle's 32,979 km puts it in the top tier of low-mileage examples. The Black finish provides a commanding presence and historically retains higher value at trade-in compared to non-standard colors. Choosing a 4.0L V6 variant over the twin-turbo 3.5L often appeals to buyers prioritizing long-term mechanical simplicity and easier maintenance cycles.

GXR vs Lower Trims

The GXR trim provides significant upgrades over the base EXR, most notably in cabin tech and exterior styling. It typically adds larger alloy wheels and enhanced interior materials, bridging the gap between a rugged workhorse and a luxury family SUV. GCC buyers specifically value the GXR for its improved infotainment features and often more advanced climate control settings, which are essential for maintaining passenger comfort during peak summer months.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

The Land Cruiser remains the undisputed leader in its segment, frequently cross-shopped with the Nissan Patrol and the Ford Expedition. While rivals may offer different tech suites, the Land Cruiser leads in specialized off-road hardware like its robust low-range transfer case and superior approach angles for desert driving. Its massive fuel tank capacity is a decisive factor for GCC owners who regularly drive between major cities like Dubai and Riyadh without wanting to stop for fuel.

Running Costs & Resale

Land Cruisers hold their value better than almost any other vehicle in the GCC, typically depreciating at just 8–10% annually compared to 15% or more for European luxury rivals. The naturally aspirated 4.0L engine is famous for its durability and is compatible with standard petrol grades found at any station across the region. With the most extensive authorized service network in the Middle East, finding parts or expert maintenance is seamless from Muscat to Kuwait City. Expect a combined fuel consumption of approximately 10.6 L/100km, which remains efficient for a full-size body-on-frame SUV.

Performance & Capability

The 271 hp V6 engine is paired with a smooth 6-speed automatic transmission, delivering a top speed of 200 km/h and steady, reliable power for highway overtaking. Its true strength lies in its 4x4 capability, featuring a lockable center differential and low-range gears that make light work of soft sand and rocky wadis. The 300-series chassis provides a more refined ride on tarmac than its predecessors while maintaining the 235mm ground clearance needed for serious weekend adventures.

Comfort & Cabin

Designed for large families, this 7-seater features a highly effective tri-zone climate control system with dedicated rear vents to ensure every passenger stays cool in 45°C temperatures. The GXR cabin is insulated with high-quality acoustic materials to minimize wind noise during high-speed highway cruising. Versatile seating allows the third row to fold flat, providing ample cargo space for camping gear or shopping trips, while the driver enjoys an ergonomic layout designed for long-distance comfort.

Safety

This Land Cruiser comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of safety features, including multiple airbags, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, and Traction Control tailored for loose surfaces. The GCC-spec GXR includes essential aids for local conditions, such as parking sensors and a high-resolution camera system to assist in tight urban parking. Its heavy-duty body-on-frame construction provides a level of passive safety and road presence that makes it a trusted choice for family transport across the Emirates.

The bottom line

This is the ideal purchase for a GCC buyer who wants a near-new Land Cruiser with the most reliable engine configuration available. Its low mileage and strong color choice make it one of the most sensible long-term investments currently on the market.
