Summary

This 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser GR Sport is a premier choice for those who demand the highest level of off-road engineering without sacrificing road-going comfort. With just 27,923 km, it sits well below the typical 25,000 km per year average for GCC SUVs, representing a low-mileage advantage for its age. The 3.3L diesel powertrain is exceptionally rare and highly sought after in the region for its massive torque and superior cruising range compared to petrol variants. Finished in white, the most resilient resale color in the Gulf, it offers excellent heat reflection and long-term value retention. For a GCC buyer, this specific trim bridges the gap between a luxury family hauler and a professional-grade desert explorer.

This Car vs Other 2022 Land Cruisers

At four years old, this Land Cruiser's mileage is significantly lower than the market average of 80,000 to 100,000 km typically seen for this model year in the GCC. While many Land Cruisers of this vintage are high-use highway commuters, this example presents as a low-mileage alternative that preserves more of its mechanical lifespan. The white exterior is the top-performing color for resale in the UAE and Saudi markets, ensuring the broadest possible buyer pool when it's time to upgrade.

GR SPORT vs Lower Trims

The GR Sport sits at the top of the capability hierarchy, adding specialized off-road hardware not found on the GXR or VXR trims. Most notably, it features the world-first E-KDSS system for improved wheel articulation and front/rear locking differentials for technical terrain. Inside, it replaces standard wood-grain with sporty carbon-style trim and exclusive GR-branded leather seats that feature both heating and ventilation—a critical luxury for the GCC summer.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Nissan Patrol, the Land Cruiser GR Sport offers a more modern 10-speed transmission and significantly higher torque from its twin-turbo diesel engine, making it a superior choice for long-distance towing. Against the Land Rover Defender, the Toyota leads with an unmatched GCC-wide service network and a historical reputation for durability in extreme heat. Its 110-litre fuel tank provides a theoretical range of over 1,200 km, outclassing rivals for cross-border desert journeys.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.3L diesel engine achieves a combined fuel consumption of approximately 8.9L/100km, offering a massive efficiency gain over the V6 petrol models in stop-start city traffic. Service intervals are recommended every 10,000 km at authorized centers, which are readily available in every major GCC city from Dubai to Riyadh. Historically, the GR Sport trim maintains one of the highest residual values in the SUV segment, often retaining over 80% of its value after three years in the local market.

Performance & Capability

The twin-turbo diesel delivers a staggering 700 Nm of torque, providing effortless overtaking power on the E11 and immense low-end grunt for climbing soft dunes. Its E-KDSS system automatically detaches stabilizer bars for maximum wheel travel off-road, then firms up for stable, flat cornering on the highway. With a 3,500 kg braked towing capacity and 235 mm of ground clearance, it is engineered to handle the most demanding tasks the Gulf region can offer.

Comfort & Cabin

Despite its rugged exterior, the cabin is a 7-seat sanctuary featuring quad-zone climate control with dedicated vents for all three rows to ensure rapid cooling in 45°C temperatures. The GR Sport trim includes a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a 14-speaker JBL premium audio system, and a cooled center console box for keeping beverages chilled during long drives. Acoustic glass helps isolate the interior from road noise, maintaining a premium environment even at high highway speeds.

Safety

This trim is equipped with the full Toyota Safety Sense suite, including Pre-Collision System, Lane Trace Assist, and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, which is indispensable for long stretches of desert highway. It also features a 360-degree Multi-Terrain Monitor that provides a clear view of obstacles beneath the vehicle when navigating tight trails or parking in the city. With 10 airbags and a 5-star ANCAP safety rating, it offers class-leading protection for large families.

The bottom line

This is a rare opportunity to own a low-mileage, diesel-powered GR Sport that combines ultimate off-road hardware with the GCC's most trusted badge. It is the perfect investment for a buyer who wants a collectible trim that performs as well in the Empty Quarter as it does on the streets of Dubai.
