Summary

This 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser GXR offers the ideal balance of legendary off-road capability and modern comfort for the GCC driver. Powered by the reliable 4.0L V6, it is specifically engineered for long-term durability in extreme desert heat and high-mileage highway environments. In the local market, the black exterior paired with the GXR trim represents a high-demand configuration that ensures exceptionally strong resale value. Compared to rivals, this model leads with its massive cruising range and a suspension system built to handle everything from city commutes to cross-border road trips. For a buyer seeking the ultimate peace of mind, there is simply no safer long-term investment in the UAE used car market.

This Car vs Other 2024 Land Cruisers

At two years old, this Land Cruiser sits in the 'sweet spot' of the used market, having already absorbed its initial new-car depreciation while maintaining its mechanical freshness. Black is a premier choice in the GCC, offering a more executive presence and higher demand at resale compared to standard fleet white. Given that the average annual mileage in the region often hits 25,000 km, any well-maintained example from this year represents a significant tactical advantage for the next owner.

GXR vs Lower Trims

The GXR trim is the preferred choice for families, adding critical equipment over the base EXR such as a rear differential lock and Toyota’s specialized Crawl Control for serious off-road recovery. Inside, the GXR enhances the daily drive with a larger infotainment display, higher-grade seat materials, and a more robust multi-zone climate control system designed to maintain cabin frostiness during peak summer months. It is the trim where the Land Cruiser transitions from a workhorse into a premium family SUV.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

While the Nissan Patrol offers a softer on-road ride, the Land Cruiser leads the segment in resale value retention and remote-area reliability. Its 110-litre fuel tank provides a superior cruising range for long desert highway drives compared to many American rivals. Additionally, the Toyota service network is the most comprehensive in the GCC, ensuring that parts and expert technicians are available in every emirate and across borders in Saudi Arabia and Oman.

Running Costs & Resale

The naturally aspirated 4.0L V6 is famous for its simple, bulletproof maintenance and compatibility with local fuel grades. Real-world fuel consumption typically averages around 10.6 L/100km on the highway, making it an efficient cruiser for its size. Historically, the Land Cruiser 300 retains 75-80% of its value after three years in the UAE market, significantly outperforming European luxury SUVs. Authorized service intervals occur every 10,000 km, with a vast network of centers ensuring competitive maintenance costs.

Performance & Capability

The 271 hp V6 engine provides smooth, linear power delivery that is perfectly suited for high-speed highway overtaking and steady sand dune climbs. Its body-on-frame construction and advanced 4WD system, featuring a rear differential lock, allow it to traverse terrain that would stop most unibody crossovers. With a ground clearance of approximately 235 mm, it is designed to clear significant obstacles during weekend desert adventures while maintaining refined stability on asphalt.

Comfort & Cabin

This 7-seater configuration is designed for maximum family utility, featuring a genuine third row and a powerful multi-zone air conditioning system with dedicated rear vents. The GXR cabin is insulated against external heat and road noise, providing a quiet sanctuary for long-distance travel between cities. Tech highlights include smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ensuring the driver remains connected throughout the journey.

Safety

Safety is managed through a comprehensive suite of active systems, including Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control, and Hill-start Assist. The GXR is equipped with a robust airbag system covering front and side impact zones, providing peace of mind for family transport. Standard features like the rearview camera and front/rear parking sensors are essential for navigating this large SUV through tight city parking and busy multi-lane traffic.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer who values market-leading resale value and go-anywhere reliability above all else, this black-on-beige GXR is the definitive choice for a 2024 model.
