Summary

This 2022 Volvo XC60 Momentum is a standout choice for those seeking Scandinavian luxury with a focus on safety and efficiency. With a mileage of 81,000 km, it has been driven slightly above the GCC annual average but remains well within the range for a reliable European SUV of this age. The vibrant Red exterior is a bold, premium choice that maintains high visual appeal and strong resale interest in a market dominated by neutral tones. As the entry point into the XC60 range, the Momentum trim provides a clean, minimalist interior that feels sophisticated without being overly complex. For a GCC buyer, this model offers the perfect balance of prestige and practicality, backed by Volvo's legendary reputation for protecting its occupants in high-speed highway traffic.

This Car vs Other 2022 XC60s

At 81,000 km, this XC60 has seen consistent use, sitting just above the typical GCC annual expectation of 20,000–25,000 km. While many listings in the market may show lower figures, this vehicle’s usage suggests it has been primarily used for the long-distance highway commutes common in the UAE, which is often easier on the engine than stop-start city driving. The Red color is a rare find in the region, offering a distinct advantage for buyers who want their luxury SUV to stand out while still benefiting from Volvo's steady resale curve.

MOMENTUM vs Lower Trims

The Momentum trim serves as the well-equipped baseline for the XC60, offering high-end features that GCC buyers value, such as a powered tailgate and LED headlights with Volvo's signature 'Thor’s Hammer' DRLs. Unlike lower-tier variants found in other markets, the GCC Momentum trim ensures a premium cabin feel with a high-resolution 9-inch vertical infotainment screen and a 12.3-inch digital driver display. It includes essential climate features like dual-zone automatic AC and rear vents to handle the intense summer heat efficiently.

XC60 vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the BMW X3 and Audi Q5, the XC60 leads in standard safety equipment and interior seat comfort, which is vital for long road trips across the Emirates. Its 483-litre boot offers a highly practical, square loading space that is often more usable than the more sloped cargo areas of its German competitors. The focus here is on a calm, quiet cabin environment, making it a more relaxing commuter than the sport-tuned alternatives in the mid-size luxury segment.

Running Costs & Resale

The 1.5-litre turbocharged engine is designed for efficiency, delivering competitive fuel economy that helps offset the rising costs of petrol during daily commutes between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it benefits from a well-established authorized service network provided by Al Futtaim, ensuring parts and expert technicians are readily available across the UAE. While European SUVs generally depreciate faster than Japanese rivals, the XC60 holds its value better than most in its class due to its universal reputation for durability and safety.

Performance & Capability

Producing 200 hp, the turbocharged engine provides smooth, linear acceleration that is perfectly suited for maintaining highway speeds and confident overtaking. The four-wheel-drive system offers excellent stability during sudden rain showers or on gravel-strewn desert roads, ensuring the car remains planted regardless of the surface. Volvo’s focus on chassis refinement means you get a plush ride that effectively filters out road noise and vibrations, even at typical GCC highway speeds.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is a showcase of Scandi-design, featuring five supportive seats that are widely considered the best in the industry for preventing fatigue on long drives. Powerful air conditioning is a hallmark of the GCC-spec XC60, capable of cooling the cabin rapidly even when the car has been parked in direct sunlight. The inclusion of high-quality cabin materials and an intuitive digital cockpit ensures a premium experience for both the driver and passengers.

Safety

Safety is the XC60's primary differentiator, featuring seven airbags and Volvo's City Safety suite as standard. This include collision avoidance technology that can detect other vehicles, pedestrians, and large animals, which is particularly useful during night drives on desert highways. The vehicle also comes equipped with lane-keeping aid and road sign information, providing an extra layer of protection during long, high-speed trips across the GCC.

The bottom line

This XC60 is an excellent opportunity for a safety-conscious professional or small family looking for a modern, tech-forward SUV that stands out from the crowd. Its GCC specification and striking Red finish make it a smart, high-visibility purchase in today's market.
