Summary

This 2023 Infiniti QX55 Essential is a standout choice in the luxury crossover-coupe segment, combining a sharp silhouette with a high-tech powertrain. With a mileage of 81,208 km over 3 years, it has been driven slightly above the GCC annual average, making it a mechanically well-exercised example ready for long highway commutes. The Essential trim is a sweet spot for resale, as it adds the ventilated seats and premium audio that local buyers prioritize for the summer heat. As a GCC-spec model, it offers full compatibility with regional service centers and retains better value than imported equivalents. This model stands out for its variable compression technology, which balances power for highway overtaking with improved efficiency during city traffic.

This Car vs Other 2023 QX55s

At 81,208 km, this vehicle has covered more distance than the typical 20,000–25,000 km annual GCC average, suggesting a history of consistent highway use between emirates. While the mileage is higher for its 3-year age, this often means the vehicle has been regularly maintained at major service intervals to support frequent travel. The interior and specialized VC-Turbo engine are built for this type of endurance, provided the service history is documented.

ESSENTIAL vs Lower Trims

The Essential trim provides several critical upgrades over the base Luxe model that are highly valued in the UAE market, most notably the 16-speaker Bose Performance Series audio system and climate-controlled ventilated front seats. It also adds a 360-degree Around View Monitor and front parking sensors, which are essential for navigating tight parking spaces in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. Furthermore, this trim includes navigation and the Adaptive Front Lighting system with cube-design LED headlights.

QX55 vs Segment Rivals

The QX55 leads competitors like the BMW X4 and Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe with its unique VC-Turbo engine, which is the world's first production variable compression ratio engine. It offers a more generous standard feature set at this trim level, including standard All-Wheel Drive and ProPILOT Assist, which rivals often lock behind expensive optional packages. Its bold 'piano key' LED taillights and dramatic roofline give it a distinct aesthetic presence that stands out against more conservative German rivals.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.0L VC-Turbo engine typically averages around 9.5L/100km combined, with highway figures dipping to 8.3L/100km, making it efficient for a luxury crossover. Infiniti has an extensive authorized service network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, with standard service intervals usually set at every 10,000 km. While Japanese luxury brands generally retain value well, the QX55 benefits specifically from being GCC spec, which protects its resale price against the 12-15% annual depreciation typical for this segment.

Performance & Capability

The 2.0L VC-Turbo engine produces a robust 268 hp and 380 Nm of torque, enabling a smooth 0–100 km/h sprint in 7.1 seconds. The Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system is tuned for on-road stability, seamlessly shifting power to the rear wheels to maintain traction during sudden lane changes or on sand-dusted desert highways. Its Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) includes paddle shifters, giving the driver manual control for more spirited drives through mountain passes like Jebel Jais.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a 5-seat sanctuary featuring perforated leather-appointed seating designed to remain cool during peak GCC summer months thanks to integrated ventilation. The dual-screen InTouch infotainment system keeps navigation separate from media controls, while active noise cancellation ensures a quiet environment even at high highway speeds. Rear passengers benefit from dedicated cooling vents and a USB-C charging port, ensuring comfort during long family road trips across the borders.

Safety

Standard safety on the Essential trim is comprehensive, featuring the ProPILOT Assist suite which includes Intelligent Cruise Control and Lane Departure Prevention for effortless long-distance driving. It also comes equipped with Blind Spot Intervention and Predictive Forward Collision Warning, which monitors two vehicles ahead to anticipate potential hazards. The 360-degree Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection provides superior visibility, making it one of the safest configurations in the compact luxury crossover class.

The bottom line

For the buyer seeking a stylish, tech-forward crossover that doesn't compromise on summer comfort, this GCC-spec Essential trim offers the best balance of premium features and proven reliability. It is a smart opportunity to own a modern Infiniti flagship that is perfectly suited for the region's demanding driving conditions.
