Summary

This 3-year-old Kia Sorento EX is a standout family option in the GCC market, offering the rare combination of seven-passenger seating and all-wheel-drive stability in a silver finish that excels at heat reflection and resale value. With 82,000 km, the mileage is average for a versatile family SUV in this region where long-distance highway commutes between emirates are common. The EX trim provides high-value upgrades like the Smart Power Tailgate and advanced driver aids that make daily school runs and weekend trips significantly easier. Kia’s vast service presence across the UAE and wider GCC ensures that parts and maintenance remain affordable and accessible long into your ownership. It is a mechanically sound, road-biased crossover designed to handle the region's high temperatures while keeping the whole family comfortable.

This Car vs Other 2023 Sorentos

At 82,000 km, this vehicle sits right at the expected average for a 3-year-old family SUV in the GCC, where annual use typically reaches 25,000 km. The silver exterior is a top-tier choice for the local market, offering excellent durability against sun-fading and maintaining high demand for future resale. Choosing a GCC-spec model over imports ensures the cooling system and cabin insulation are specifically engineered for the Gulf's extreme summer heat.

EX vs Lower Trims

The EX trim adds essential convenience features over the LX and S, most notably the Smart Power Tailgate which is a frequent requirement for local buyers. It also includes upgraded LED fog lights, an 8-way power front passenger seat, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. These additions, combined with the 10.25-inch touchscreen and wireless charging found at this level, provide a much more premium cabin experience compared to the base variants.

Sorento vs Segment Rivals

The Sorento often leads rivals like the Toyota RAV4 and Mitsubishi Outlander by offering a more usable third row for larger families. Its 70-litre fuel tank is specifically advantageous for long-distance desert highway drives, providing superior range between stops compared to many compact crossovers. The interior materials and digital interface in this 2023 model typically feel more modern and tech-forward than similarly aged competitors in the same price bracket.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.5L engine averages around 8.5 L/100km, making it efficient for highway cruising between cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Kia has one of the strongest authorised service networks in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, with service intervals typically set at every 10,000 km. The Sorento retains value well, typically seeing a depreciation of about 10-15% annually after the initial 3-year drop, benefiting from Kia's reputation for reliability in the Middle East.

Performance & Capability

The 2.5-litre 4-cylinder engine delivers 178 hp and 232 Nm of torque, providing a smooth and predictable drive suitable for city traffic and steady highway overtaking. Equipped with All-Wheel Drive, this Sorento offers enhanced stability on gravel tracks and during occasional rainy winter conditions on wet asphalt. The Drive Mode Select system allows you to toggle between Eco, Sport, and Smart modes to adapt the transmission response to your specific driving environment.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is configured for seven passengers, featuring a versatile folding second row that allows for easy access to the back. Dual-zone automatic climate control with dedicated rear air vents ensures that all three rows remain cool even when external temperatures exceed 45°C. The interior is finished with high-quality materials and acoustic glass, which helps isolate the cabin from wind noise during high-speed highway travel.

Safety

This EX trim comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite, including Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist and Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance technology, which is vital for the fast-moving multi-lane highways of the GCC. Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go reduces driver fatigue during heavy traffic or long desert transits. Standard rear parking sensors and a rearview camera with dynamic guidelines provide additional confidence when navigating tight urban parking spaces.

The bottom line

This Sorento EX is the ideal choice for a growing family that needs seven seats and modern tech without the premium price of a luxury brand. Its silver GCC-spec configuration makes it a low-risk, high-utility investment for anyone looking for a reliable daily driver in the region.
