Summary

This 2023 EQS 450 4MATIC SUV represents a significant opportunity to secure a near-new electric flagship with a spacious seven-seat configuration. As a European specification model, it benefits from a highly efficient dual-motor setup that offers an impressive 673 km range on the WLTP cycle, outperforming many regional rivals in pure endurance. The Selenite Grey exterior is a highly desirable shade in the GCC, offering excellent heat reflection and maintaining a professional aesthetic that supports strong resale value. For the local buyer, this vehicle offers the ultimate balance of zero-emissions family logistics and the peerless refinement expected of the S-Class lineage.

This Car vs Other 2023 EQS 450s

While many EQS models in the UAE are the single-motor 450+ variant, this dual-motor 4MATIC version provides superior traction for varied surfaces and more confident handling on fast-moving highways. Its seven-seat configuration is a rarer and highly sought-after option compared to the standard five-seat layout, making it a more versatile asset for larger families. As a 2023 model, it features the updated 108.4 kWh usable battery capacity, ensuring peak performance and range compared to earlier production units.

4MATIC vs Lower Trims

The 4MATIC trim adds a sophisticated front-axle motor to the base setup, transforming the vehicle from rear-wheel drive to a fully variable all-wheel-drive system. This addition significantly improves 0–100 km/h acceleration and provides enhanced stability during the sudden rain showers or sandy conditions occasionally encountered in the region. Unlike the base trim, this model includes the dual-motor torque vectoring system, which actively adjusts power to each wheel for flatter cornering and a more composed ride.

EQS 450 vs Segment Rivals

The EQS SUV stands apart from rivals like the BMW iX and Tesla Model X by offering a more traditional luxury interior and a significantly higher WLTP range of up to 673 km. Its dedicated EV platform allows for a completely flat floor, providing superior middle-row legroom that exceeds most petrol-powered full-size SUVs. Furthermore, the 200 kW DC fast-charging capability allows for a 10% to 80% charge in just 31 minutes, keeping it competitive at the growing number of high-speed charging stations across the Emirates.

Running Costs & Resale

Running costs for this electric SUV are substantially lower than petrol-powered equivalents, with no requirement for oil changes, spark plugs, or transmission fluid services. European specification cars like this one often carry attractive entry pricing in the UAE market, though buyers should verify local service center compatibility for software updates and regional map support. While European imports can face steeper initial depreciation than GCC-spec units, the growing demand for seven-seat premium EVs helps stabilize long-term value retention.

Performance & Capability

With 360 hp and a massive 800 Nm of torque delivered instantly, this SUV offers effortless overtaking power even when fully loaded with seven passengers. The standard AIRMATIC air suspension includes a dedicated Off-Road mode that can raise the vehicle's ride height, providing extra clearance for gravel tracks or light desert excursions. The rear-axle steering system is a standout feature, reducing the turning circle to that of a compact sedan, which is invaluable when navigating tight parking structures in Dubai or Abu Dhabi.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a sanctuary of tech and comfort, featuring ventilated front seats that are essential for the GCC's peak summer temperatures. This European spec includes premium upholstery and the Burmester 3D Surround Sound system, which uses 15 speakers to create an immersive audio environment. The four-zone climate control ensures that even passengers in the third row receive dedicated airflow, maintaining comfort during long cross-border drives or city commutes.

Safety

This EQS is equipped with the complete Driver Assistance Package, featuring adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality, which is perfect for heavy traffic on Sheikh Zayed Road. Active Blind Spot Assist and Lane Keeping Assist provide a safety net for multi-lane highway driving, while the 360° camera system makes maneuvering this large SUV effortless. The vehicle also features a sophisticated pre-collision system that can tighten seatbelts and close windows if an impact is detected.

The bottom line

This 2023 EQS 450 4MATIC is the ideal choice for a forward-thinking family looking for S-Class luxury with the practicality of seven seats and zero tailpipe emissions.
