Summary

This Pathfinder presents a compelling option for large families, offering a full eight-seat configuration in the highest possible trim level. While the mileage reflects active use consistent with long-distance GCC highway commuting, the robust V6 and modern 9-speed automatic are built for exactly these conditions. The Platinum trim distinguishes itself with luxury features like climate-controlled seating and a panoramic moonroof, which are essential for staying comfortable during the peak summer months. For a buyer in the UAE or wider region, this model's brown exterior is a sophisticated, dirt-resistant choice that holds up well against the dusty desert environment. With its strong regional service network and proven durability, it remains a highly practical and refined choice for cross-emirate travel.

This Car vs Other 2023 Pathfinders

At 106,000 km, this vehicle’s usage is slightly above the typical GCC annual average for a two-year-old SUV, suggesting a history of efficient highway miles rather than taxing city idle time. While many Pathfinders are found in neutral silver or white, this brown finish offers a distinctive look that maintains its luster well in high-UV environments. For the 2023 model year, finding a Platinum trim with the full 8-seat layout is a specific advantage, as many top-tier versions were sold with second-row captain's chairs.

PLATINUM vs Lower Trims

Stepping up to the Platinum trim adds high-value features that are non-negotiable for many GCC buyers, most notably the ventilated front seats that provide vital cooling during the summer. You also receive the upgraded 13-speaker Bose Premium audio system, 20-inch machine-finished alloy wheels, and a head-up display that keeps your eyes on the road during high-speed highway driving. Unlike the SL, the Platinum includes a standard tow hitch receiver with a 7-pin wiring harness, making it ready for weekend excursions immediately.

Pathfinder vs Segment Rivals

The Pathfinder leads rivals like the Toyota Highlander and Honda Pilot with its impressive 2,722 kg towing capacity, making it the preferred choice for those hauling trailers or jet skis. Its 9-speed automatic transmission offers a more traditional and responsive driving feel compared to the CVTs often found in this segment, which is a major plus for overtaking on the E11 or E311. Additionally, the EZ FLEX seating system provides easier access to the third row than many of its American and Japanese competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this V6 typically averages around 10.5 L/100km on the highway, though GCC stop-start traffic can see this rise toward 13 L/100km. As a popular Japanese brand in the region, the Pathfinder enjoys excellent value retention, typically depreciating at a slower rate than its European luxury counterparts. Maintenance is straightforward thanks to one of the most extensive authorized service networks in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, with parts readily available at competitive prices.

Performance & Capability

The 284 hp V6 engine provides smooth, linear power that is perfectly suited for long-distance cruising across the Emirates. With seven selectable drive and terrain modes, the Pathfinder is well-equipped to handle gravel tracks and sandy wadi approaches during weekend family outings. The transition to a 9-speed automatic for this generation has significantly improved high-speed refinement, ensuring the cabin remains quiet even at 120 km/h highway speeds.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a sanctuary from the heat, featuring a powerful tri-zone automatic climate control system with dedicated vents for all three rows. The semi-aniline leather-appointed seats are both heated and cooled in the front, while the large panoramic moonroof gives the interior an airy, expansive feel. Acoustic glass and improved insulation ensure that road noise is kept to a minimum, providing a premium experience for all eight passengers on longer journeys.

Safety

This Platinum trim comes equipped with the full Nissan Safety Shield 360 suite, including high-value features for GCC drivers like blind-spot intervention and rear automatic braking. The ProPILOT Assist system is particularly useful for reducing fatigue on the long desert stretches between cities by providing steering and braking assistance. With ten standard airbags and a 360-degree Intelligent Around View Monitor, it offers top-tier protection and visibility in crowded urban parking environments.

The bottom line

For a family seeking the maximum possible specification and seating capacity in a reliable Japanese SUV, this 2023 Platinum model is a standout opportunity. It represents a smart balance of modern tech and proven V6 durability that is perfectly tailored for the GCC lifestyle.
