Summary

This 2023 Suzuki Ciaz GL represents a smart entry into the modern sedan market, offering a balanced mix of reliability and cost-efficiency. With its practical silver finish—a top-tier resale color in the GCC—and moderate mileage for its age, it is perfectly positioned for both daily commutes and long-term value retention. The Ciaz stands out in its segment by offering class-leading rear legroom, making it a comfortable choice for small families or executive taxi services. For the GCC buyer, the primary draw remains Suzuki's legendary mechanical simplicity and the ease of sourcing parts across the region.

This Car vs Other 2023 Suzuki Ciazs

At 45,000 km, this Ciaz sits well within the average annual usage bracket for the UAE, where 20,000 to 25,000 km is the norm. It has already moved past the steepest part of the depreciation curve, offering a lower entry price than a new model while still maintaining its mechanical freshness. The silver exterior is a strategic choice for the region, effectively hiding desert dust while ensuring high demand in the secondary market.

GL vs Lower Trims

The GL trim serves as the essential standard for the GCC market, providing key comforts like rear AC vents and a multi-function steering wheel that are often missing in budget-spec competitors. It avoids the added electronic complexity of higher trims, focusing on durability while still offering standard power windows and a reliable 4-speaker audio system. This balance makes it a favorite for buyers who prioritize lower long-term maintenance over aesthetic tech.

Ciaz vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Toyota Yaris or Nissan Sunny, the Ciaz leads with a significantly longer wheelbase, translating to superior cabin space and rear knee room. Its 480-litre boot is more versatile than many rivals, easily accommodating large grocery hauls or airport luggage. While competitors focus on high-tech dashboards, the Ciaz focuses on a supple ride quality that handles uneven road surfaces and speed bumps with more composure.

Running Costs & Resale

The Ciaz is one of the most economical sedans to operate in GCC traffic, with real-world fuel consumption typically averaging around 6.0 L/100km. Suzuki's authorized service network is one of the most established in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, with minor service intervals at 10,000 km ensuring predictable upkeep. Its depreciation rate is among the lowest in its class, often retaining a high percentage of its value after three years due to its popularity in the fleet and commuter sectors.

Performance & Capability

Power is delivered by a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder engine that produces a reliable 110 hp, which feels zippy thanks to the car's lightweight construction. The 4-speed automatic transmission is tuned for smooth urban shifts rather than high-speed sprints, making it an ideal companion for the stop-start traffic of Dubai or Riyadh. A tight 5.4-metre turning circle makes navigating narrow parking structures and U-turns effortless compared to larger mid-size sedans.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is designed for the harsh GCC summer, featuring a robust air conditioning system known for its rapid cooling capacity even in midday heat. Rear passengers benefit from dedicated cooling vents, a critical feature for passenger comfort during long cross-emirate drives. The fabric upholstery is more resistant to heat absorption than leather, ensuring the seats remain at a manageable temperature even after being parked in the sun.

Safety

Safety is managed through a Suzuki TECT (Total Effective Control Technology) body structure designed to absorb and disperse impact energy. Standard equipment on this trim includes dual front SRS airbags, an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), and rear parking sensors. These systems provide the essential driver aids required for safe navigation on high-speed GCC highways.

The bottom line

This Ciaz is a prime opportunity for a buyer seeking a nearly-new commuter that prioritizes cabin space and low running costs over unnecessary gadgets. It is the practical choice for anyone wanting a worry-free ownership experience backed by one of the strongest service networks in the region.
