Toyota Land Cruiser GXR Diesel 3.3L

Highlights

• 700 Nm of torque from a 3.3L twin-turbo V6
• 110-litre dual fuel tank capacity
• Low-range transfer case with locking differentials

Summary

This 2023 Toyota Land Cruiser GXR is a standout find in the GCC market, offering the rare and highly efficient 3.3L diesel powertrain that is prized for its massive range and low-end torque. At three years old and with 51,534 km, it has been driven roughly 17,000 km per year, which is well below the 20,000–25,000 km average typical for long-distance cruisers in this region. The Black exterior remains one of the strongest resale colors in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, ensuring high demand and value retention. As a GXR trim, it strikes the ideal balance for a GCC buyer, providing the essential 300-series performance upgrades and cooling capacity without the extreme price premium of flagship variants. This is the definitive choice for anyone needing a reliable, cross-border tourer that can handle both the Riyadh-to-Dubai highway and weekend desert dunes with equal ease.

This Car vs Other 2023 Land Cruisers

With 51,534 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been used sparingly for a GCC-based Land Cruiser, where annual mileages often exceed 25,000 km due to frequent cross-city commutes. Its low-mileage status for a 3-year-old car suggests it has been a secondary family vehicle rather than a heavy-duty workhorse. The Black paint is a premium resale color in the local market, offering a sophisticated look that holds value significantly better than more niche shades.

GXR vs Lower Trims

The GXR trim is a significant step up from the entry-level EXR, adding essential features for the GCC climate such as a factory-fitted cool box and upgraded synthetic leather upholstery that stays cooler than cloth. It also introduces superior off-road technology including Crawl Control and Turn Assist, which are often absent on base models. Buyers also benefit from larger 20-inch alloy wheels and a more advanced 7-inch multi-information display in the instrument cluster.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Nissan Patrol, the Land Cruiser’s 3.3L twin-turbo diesel provides a massive torque advantage for towing and sand driving while offering nearly 30% better fuel efficiency on long highway hauls. Against European rivals like the Land Rover Defender, the Toyota offers the most extensive authorized service network in the region, ensuring parts and expert technicians are available in every corner of the GCC. The 110-litre fuel capacity is specifically designed for the vast distances between fuel stops in the Saudi and Omani deserts.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 3.3L diesel averages between 9.5L and 11.5L/100km, offering a significant saving over petrol V6 and V8 models in stop-start traffic. Resale value for the LC300 GXR is exceptionally strong in the GCC, typically retaining over 80% of its value at the 3-year mark. Service intervals are every 10,000 km, and with one of the largest authorized service networks in the UAE and KSA, maintenance is both convenient and cost-effective for long-term owners.

Performance & Capability

The 302 hp output is paired with a staggering 700 Nm of torque, allowing for effortless highway overtaking even when fully loaded with seven passengers. The 300-series platform features a 235 mm ground clearance and a 10-speed automatic transmission with a dedicated low-range transfer case for serious off-roading. Multi-Terrain Select modes specifically calibrated for sand and rock ensure this SUV remains the benchmark for desert capability across the emirates.

Comfort & Cabin

The seven-seat cabin is designed for extreme summer heat, featuring a high-output tri-zone climate control system with dedicated vents for all three rows. A cooled center console box keeps beverages chilled during long desert drives, while the acoustic glass helps isolate the cabin from wind noise at high speeds. The flat-folding third row provides a versatile cargo space that is 250 mm wider than the previous generation, making it ideal for family road trips.

Safety

Standard safety equipment includes a comprehensive array of airbags including driver knee and side-curtain protection for all three rows. The GXR features advanced stability controls such as Active Traction Control (A-TRC) and Trailer Sway Control, which are vital for safety on high-speed desert highways and when towing. Parking is made easier with front and rear sensors and a high-resolution rear-view camera, providing essential visibility for a vehicle of this size.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer who values long-range diesel efficiency and legendary reliability, this low-mileage GXR represents a high-value opportunity to own the region's most respected SUV with a strong resale profile.
