Summary

This GCC-spec VXR represents the top-tier luxury specification of the LC300 series, combining executive-level refinement with legendary durability. As a 2023 model, it offers the updated twin-turbocharged powertrain that delivers superior highway overtaking performance compared to older V8 iterations. Finished in black, the most sought-after resale color in the region, this SUV is built to hold its value exceptionally well in the local market. For the GCC buyer, the VXR trim is the ultimate choice for balancing prestigious city commuting in Dubai or Riyadh with genuine weekend desert capability. With its advanced suspension and cooling systems, it is perfectly engineered to handle the extreme summer heat and long-distance drives across the emirates.

This Car vs Other 2023 Land Cruisers

While many Land Cruisers in the region see heavy use for commercial or desert tour purposes, a VXR trim is typically maintained as a premium family or executive vehicle. In the GCC, where annual mileage often averages 25,000 km due to highway-heavy commutes, a well-kept 2023 model remains a highly fresh proposition. The black exterior is a significant advantage here, as it is one of the top three colors for liquidity and resale value in the UAE and Saudi markets.

VXR vs Lower Trims

The VXR adds substantial luxury and mechanical upgrades over the GXR, most notably the Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) which provides a significantly smoother ride on paved roads. Inside, it features a 14-speaker JBL premium audio system and a 12.3-inch infotainment display as standard, alongside ventilated seats for both front and second-row passengers. These climate-control features are essential for GCC summers and are highly valued by secondary buyers.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

The Land Cruiser leads its primary rival, the Nissan Patrol, in terms of long-range cruising thanks to its 110-litre fuel capacity and the efficiency of the 10-speed automatic transmission. Compared to European luxury SUVs like the BMW X7 or Mercedes-Benz GLS, the Toyota offers a far more robust body-on-frame construction and a significantly more extensive authorized service network across all GCC countries. This makes it the preferred choice for those who frequently drive between major cities or venture into remote desert areas.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the twin-turbo V6 averages approximately 12.1 L/100km, offering a noticeable improvement over the previous 5.7L V8 in GCC highway driving. Service intervals are recommended every 10,000 km or 6 months at authorized Toyota centers, which are readily available from Al-Futtaim in the UAE to Abdul Latif Jameel in Saudi Arabia. The Land Cruiser remains the regional benchmark for value retention, typically depreciating at a much slower rate of 8-10% annually compared to 15% for most European rivals.

Performance & Capability

The 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 produces 409 hp and 650 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h time of approximately 6.7 seconds. This VXR comes equipped with Multi-Terrain Select and Crawl Control, allowing it to navigate deep sand and rocky terrain with ease during weekend expeditions. Its 230 mm ground clearance and specialized off-road hardware ensure it remains unfazed by the most challenging GCC landscapes while maintaining composed high-speed stability on the E11 highway.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is configured as a 4-seater, providing an exceptionally spacious and private environment for rear passengers, ideal for executive use. Four-zone automatic climate control and high-performance insulation keep the interior cool even when exterior temperatures exceed 45°C. Technology highlights include a large digital cockpit, a Head-Up Display, and acoustic glass that significantly reduces wind noise during high-speed desert crossings.

Safety

This VXR features the full Toyota Safety Sense suite as standard, including Pre-Collision System with pedestrian detection and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control for relaxed highway driving. A 360-degree Panoramic View Monitor is particularly useful for maneuvering this large SUV in tight city parking or navigating technical off-road obstacles. Blind Spot Monitoring and Lane Trace Assist provide essential support on fast-moving multi-lane GCC highways.

The bottom line

This 2023 VXR is the perfect match for a buyer seeking the pinnacle of Toyota’s reliability paired with executive luxury and the best possible resale security in the GCC market.
