Summary

This 2024 GAC Emkoo GL is a sharp-looking choice for GCC buyers wanting a futuristic SUV without the typical high-mileage wear. At only 2 years old and with just 21,380 km, it has been driven significantly less than the 40,000–50,000 km usually expected for this age in the UAE. The Star Lake Green exterior is a standout choice that holds its appeal in the local market, and the high-spec GL trim ensures you aren't missing out on the tech that makes this model famous. It offers a unique balance of radical concept-car styling and proven GCC-spec reliability, supported by GAC's growing authorized service network across the Emirates and Saudi Arabia.

This Car vs Other 2024 EMKOOs

With only 21,380 km on the odometer, this Emkoo is a low-mileage example compared to the 20,000–25,000 km annual average for SUVs in the GCC. The Green paint is one of the model's signature launch colors, which aids its visibility and desirability in the used market. Being a GCC-spec vehicle, it retains its full localized cooling and filter systems, making it a safer long-term bet than any grey-market import.

GL vs Lower Trims

The GL trim is a significant jump over the entry-level GE, adding a full 360-degree camera system and an electric power tailgate which are essential for navigating tight Dubai mall parking. Inside, the GL adds ambient lighting and a larger 10.1-inch digital interface compared to the more basic setups found on lower trims. It also includes the ADiGO pilot suite, providing Level 2 driver assistance that standard trims lack.

EMKOO vs Segment Rivals

The Emkoo leads rivals like the Kia Sportage and Hyundai Tucson in pure cargo capacity, offering a massive 638 litres of boot space. Its 2,750 mm wheelbase is longer than many in the segment, translating to superior rear legroom for family road trips between emirates. Unlike many competitors that use naturally aspirated engines, the Emkoo's standard 1.5-litre turbo provides more torque for confident highway overtaking.

Running Costs & Resale

The 1.5-litre turbocharged engine is highly efficient for its size, rated at approximately 6.6 L/100km on the NEDC cycle, making it ideal for the high-speed highway commutes common in the UAE. GAC has established a robust service network across the GCC, specifically through Gargash in the UAE, which helps maintain higher-than-average resale values for Chinese crossovers. You can expect a depreciation rate comparable to established Korean brands, roughly 12-15% annually in this market.

Performance & Capability

The 177 hp MegaWave engine delivers a punchy 270 Nm of torque, which is perfectly tuned for merging into fast-moving highway traffic. It features a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission that handles the extreme heat of the GCC summer better than dry-clutch equivalents. With multiple drive modes including a 'Sport' setting, it offers a more engaging drive than a typical commuter SUV.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a tech-heavy space featuring a panoramic sunroof with an electric shade that is essential for blocking out the harsh midday sun. Ventilated front seats come standard on this trim, a must-have feature for the UAE's 45°C+ summer months. Rear passengers benefit from dedicated cooling vents and a flat floor, making it a genuine five-seater for long-distance family travel.

Safety

Safety is a priority with 6 airbags and a suite of active systems including Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking, and Lane Keep Assist. The GL trim also features a 360-degree high-definition camera system that provides a bird's-eye view, making it much easier to park and protect the 19-inch alloy wheels from curb damage. It was designed to meet five-star C-NCAP standards, providing peace of mind for family buyers.

The bottom line

For the tech-forward buyer who wants a like-new SUV with striking design and low mileage, this GCC-spec GL trim is the smartest way to jump into the GAC lineup right now.
