Summary

This 2024 Geely Coolray GK is a standout choice in the compact SUV segment, offering a punchy turbocharged performance that feels right at home on fast-moving UAE highways. Finished in white—the most sought-after color for heat reflection and resale value in the GCC—it provides a modern, tech-forward cabin that punches well above its price bracket. With its 4-cylinder engine and responsive dual-clutch transmission, it offers a more refined driving experience than earlier 3-cylinder versions. For buyers looking for a stylish commuter that balances low running costs with a premium feel, this GCC-spec listing is one of the most practical options on the market today.

This Car vs Other 2024 Coolrays

With just over 54,000 km, this Coolray sits slightly above the regional average for a one-year-old vehicle but is perfectly suited for the long-distance highway commutes common between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The white exterior is a strategic choice for the GCC, ensuring maximum cabin cooling during summer months and high demand in the local used market. Being a GCC-spec model, it enjoys full compatibility with regional service centers and retains its value far better than imported alternatives.

GK vs Lower Trims

The GK trim is the sweet spot of the Coolray lineup, adding significant premium features over the entry-level GL. The most notable upgrade is the massive panoramic sunroof with UV protection, which transforms the cabin's atmosphere and is a highly sought-after feature for resale in the UAE. Additionally, the GK moves up to larger 18-inch alloy wheels, giving it a more aggressive, planted stance on the road compared to the standard 17-inch rims found on the base trim.

Coolray vs Segment Rivals

The Coolray leads rivals like the MG ZS and Hyundai Creta in pure performance, delivering a sub-8 second 0-100 km/h time that makes highway merging effortless. Its BMA architecture, shared with premium European brands, provides a level of chassis refinement and interior material quality that often exceeds its price-point competitors. While rivals focus on basic utility, the Coolray prioritizes a driver-centric, tech-heavy environment that appeals to the modern GCC professional.

Running Costs & Resale

Fuel efficiency is a major strength, with the 1.5L turbo engine achieving a frugal 5.8 L/100km on the NEDC cycle, making it ideal for high-mileage drivers across the Emirates. Geely has established a strong authorized service presence via AGMC in the UAE, with minor services typically estimated between AED 550 and AED 900. The model shows strong value retention, typically holding about 60% of its value after three years, outperforming many of its Chinese-origin competitors in the local market.

Performance & Capability

The 1.5-litre turbocharged engine delivers a punchy 172 hp and 290 Nm of torque, ensuring it never feels underpowered even with five passengers on board. Power is delivered through a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission that is 98% efficient, allowing for gear changes in as little as 0.2 seconds for a seamless driving feel. While designed for the road, its elevated ground clearance makes it capable of handling gravel tracks and weekend escapes to the Wadi paths across the northern Emirates.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is centered around a 12.3-inch high-definition touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, providing a cockpit-like feel for the driver. For the GCC climate, the air conditioning system is designed to be powerful, featuring rear cooling vents to keep all passengers comfortable during the peak of summer. The interior uses soft-touch materials and a sporty gear shifter, creating a sophisticated environment for daily traffic in Riyadh or Dubai.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on the GK trim includes a comprehensive suite of active and passive features such as Stability Control, Traction Control, and Tire Pressure Monitoring. The high-strength steel structure provides a solid safety cage for all five occupants, while cruise control helps reduce driver fatigue on long desert highway stretches. This trim also includes rear parking sensors and a high-resolution camera to make urban parking in tight spots effortless.

The bottom line

This 2024 Coolray GK is the perfect match for a young professional or small family seeking a tech-loaded, fuel-efficient SUV that doesn't compromise on highway performance.
