Summary

This Geely Coolray GL represents a modern and efficient choice for the GCC market, featuring the significantly improved 4-cylinder turbo engine over the older 3-cylinder units. With low mileage for its age relative to the high-usage UAE average, it offers a strong mechanical advantage for buyers seeking longevity. The Red exterior is a vibrant, trendy choice that stands out in city traffic and holds consistent appeal in the regional pre-owned market. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it is fully optimized for local cooling and fuel requirements, backed by an extensive authorized service network. This crossover is ideal for those who prioritize a punchy, responsive drive for both urban commuting and weekend highway trips between emirates.

This Car vs Other 2026 Coolrays

With just 18,520 km, this vehicle sits well below the typical 20,000–25,000 km annual average for the GCC, making it a low-mileage standout. The Red finish offers a distinct alternative to the common silver and white options while maintaining good resale liquidity. Its GCC specification ensures the air conditioning and cooling systems are built to handle the region's 45°C+ summer peaks without compromise.

GL vs Lower Trims

As the foundational GL trim for the 2026 model year, this car provides the exact same 174 hp turbocharged powertrain as the range-topping GF models. You gain essential GCC comforts like high-performance climate control and LED headlights without the premium cost of higher-tier driver aids. It retains the core technology that matters, including a crisp infotainment interface and smart key access standard on this specification.

Coolray vs Segment Rivals

The Coolray leads rivals like the MG ZS and Hyundai Creta by offering a more powerful 1.5L 4-cylinder turbo engine, delivering a quicker 0–100 km/h time of 7.6 seconds. Its BMA architecture, shared with premium European platforms, results in a more composed highway ride than many entry-level crossovers in this price bracket. For long GCC drives, the 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission provides smoother shifts and better thermal management than the CVTs found in several competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Fuel efficiency is a major strength, with official figures of 6.5 L/100km combined, translating to over 700 km of range on a single 45L tank. Authorized service centers like AGMC in the UAE provide a dense network for maintenance, with standard intervals every 10,000 km or 6 months. Geely's growing presence in the GCC has stabilized depreciation rates, now rivaling established brands at approximately 12–15% annually, supported by long manufacturer warranties.

Performance & Capability

The 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder produces a punchy 174 hp and 290 Nm of torque, ensuring confident overtaking on fast-moving UAE highways. A top speed of 195 km/h and a refined 7-speed DCT transmission make long-distance travel across the GCC both comfortable and responsive. While road-biased, its ground clearance is sufficient for typical gravel paths and urban obstacles encountered during weekend outings.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Coolray offers a 5-seat layout with supportive upholstery designed for long-distance durability in high-heat conditions. The air conditioning system is specifically tuned for the GCC, featuring rear vents to ensure all passengers stay cool during summer commutes. Generous cabin insulation limits road noise on the highway, while the boot offers 337 liters of space, expandable for family road trips.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on the GL trim includes dual front airbags, ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, and Traction Control to maintain stability on sandy or rain-slicked surfaces. It features a high-definition reverse camera and rear parking sensors to aid in tight urban parking scenarios. The body is constructed using high-strength steel, providing a robust safety shell that meets modern international crash standards.

The bottom line

This low-mileage 2026 Coolray GL is the perfect entry point for a buyer who wants European-inspired performance and modern tech with the reliability of a full GCC service network. It is a smart, budget-conscious choice that doesn't compromise on the energetic driving experience Geely is known for.
