Summary

This 2024 Li Auto L9 Ultra is a standout choice in the growing high-end Chinese hybrid market, offering a massive combined range that makes it ideal for long-distance GCC road trips without charging stops. As the flagship Ultra trim, it features the most advanced 'Magic Carpet' air suspension and the high-performance AD Max driving suite which rivals established luxury brands. With silver being a highly resilient resale color in the region and the mileage sitting right for a two-year-old vehicle, this SUV offers substantial value compared to brand-new units. For a GCC buyer, this model represents the perfect bridge between a quiet electric commute and the reliability of a petrol range-extender for trans-emirate travel.

This Car vs Other 2024 L9s

With 77,630 km on the clock, this L9 Ultra has been utilized exactly as intended for a high-mileage highway cruiser in the GCC. While typical annual use in the region often reaches 25,000 km, this car aligns perfectly with that profile for a two-year-old vehicle, indicating it hasn't sat idle. The silver exterior is a strategic choice for the local market, offering the best heat reflection and the strongest resale demand among used car buyers in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

ULTRA vs Lower Trims

The Ultra trim is the pinnacle of the L9 range, adding critical hardware that lower trims lack, such as the dual-chamber 'Magic Carpet' air suspension for superior ride quality over varied terrain. It also includes the full AD Max suite with LiDAR and dual NVIDIA Orin-X chips, providing significantly higher computing power for safety and autonomous features. Inside, you get the upgraded 21-inch 4K rear entertainment screen and the 18-point hot stone massage seats which are absent in base configurations.

L9 vs Segment Rivals

The Li Auto L9 is frequently cross-shopped with the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS, but it leads both in terms of cabin technology with its five-screen interactive cockpit and standard refrigerator. Unlike its European rivals, the L9’s range-extended powertrain allows for over 200 km of silent electric driving before the engine even starts. Its dedicated six-seat layout with second-row captain's chairs offers a level of executive comfort that is often an expensive option on its competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this hybrid powertrain is impressively low at approximately 6.6 L/100km, which is exceptional for a full-size SUV in GCC stop-start traffic. Service intervals for the range-extender are typically every 10,000 km or 12 months, with specialized service centers now widely available in major UAE hubs to handle Chinese regional specs. While depreciation for new brands in the GCC is slightly higher than for Japanese icons, the L9 has shown strong value retention due to its high demand as a luxury family transporter.

Performance & Capability

Despite its executive size, the L9 Ultra delivers a sports-car-rivaling 0–100 km/h time of 5.3 seconds thanks to its 449 hp dual-motor AWD system. The 1,412 km combined CLTC range means you can drive from Dubai to Muscat and back on a single tank and charge. The intelligent four-wheel drive and adjustable air suspension provide a maximum ground clearance of 210 mm, making it more than capable for gravel tracks or sandy weekend escapes.

Comfort & Cabin

The six-seat configuration is designed for maximum family comfort, featuring four 'zero-gravity' seats with Nappa leather and heating across all three rows. For the GCC summer, the powerful tri-zone climate control and ventilated seats are essential, complemented by a factory-integrated refrigerator that can cool drinks to sub-zero temperatures. The cabin is further insulated with acoustic glass, ensuring a whisper-quiet environment even at highway speeds.

Safety

The L9 Ultra comes standard with a comprehensive ADAS suite powered by LiDAR and 12 cameras, providing 360-degree detection that is particularly useful on busy multi-lane highways. Key features include high-speed emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and a 13.5-inch head-up display that keeps your eyes on the road. It also includes nine airbags and a reinforced high-strength steel cage that has earned top safety ratings in its home market.

The bottom line

This L9 Ultra is the ideal choice for a tech-forward family in the GCC looking for flagship luxury and massive range without the premium price tag of European brands. It is a rare opportunity to own a top-spec, well-maintained hybrid that is perfectly suited for the region's climate and long-distance driving culture.
