Summary

This 2024 Nissan Pathfinder SL is a standout family SUV for the GCC, offering a balanced white exterior that commands high resale value and reflects the desert sun efficiently. With its 3.5L V6 engine and advanced four-wheel-drive system, it bridges the gap between a refined school-run vehicle and a capable weekend explorer for light desert trails. This SL trim is particularly desirable in the local market as it adds crucial safety and comfort tech over the base models, making it a much stronger long-term investment. For the UAE buyer, the combination of 8-passenger capacity and Nissan's legendary regional service network makes this a low-risk, high-utility choice. Given its recent model year and well-maintained status, it offers a near-new driving experience without the immediate first-year depreciation hit.

This Car vs Other 2024 Pathfinders

At 31,560 km, this vehicle sits slightly above the average annual mileage for a one-year-old GCC family SUV, but it remains well within the typical 25,000-30,000 km yearly usage seen in the UAE. The white exterior is the most sought-after color in the region, ensuring maximum heat reflection and the fastest possible turnaround at resale. It represents a significant saving over a showroom-fresh unit while retaining the balance of its modern R53 generation engineering.

SL vs Lower Trims

The SL trim is a major leap over the S and SV, adding the Intelligent Around View Monitor which is essential for parking an 8-seater in tight Dubai malls. It also introduces genuine leather-appointed seating and a larger 9-inch touchscreen with wireless smartphone integration. GCC buyers will particularly value the ProPilot Assist system included in this trim, which simplifies long highway cruises between emirates with adaptive steering and braking support.

Pathfinder vs Segment Rivals

The Pathfinder leads rivals like the Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander with its robust 9-speed automatic transmission, replacing the older CVTs for a more traditional and durable feel on the road. It offers a superior 2,721 kg towing capacity, making it better suited for hauling jet skis or small trailers than many competitors in the monocoque SUV class. Additionally, Nissan's AC systems are widely regarded in the GCC for their superior performance in 45°C+ summer heat.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel economy for the 3.5L V6 typically averages around 10.5 L/100km, which is efficient for a large 8-seater on long highway stretches like the E11. Nissan enjoys one of the most extensive authorized service networks across all seven Emirates and the wider GCC, ensuring parts are affordable and readily available. The Pathfinder historically retains 60-70% of its value over three years in the UAE market, outperforming several American and European rivals in its class.

Performance & Capability

The 284 hp V6 engine provides smooth, linear power that makes highway overtaking effortless, even with a full load of eight passengers. The Four-Wheel Drive system features seven selectable terrain modes, including a dedicated Sand mode specifically calibrated for regional coastal dunes and gravel tracks. While road-focused, its 180 mm ground clearance and intelligent torque distribution provide more than enough capability for family weekend camping trips.

Comfort & Cabin

Configured as a true 8-seater, the cabin features the EZ FLEX seating system which allows the second row to slide and tilt even with a child seat installed, providing easy access to the third row. The SL trim provides a quiet, refined environment with acoustic glass that isolates the cabin from desert wind noise at high speeds. Tri-zone climate control with dedicated rear vents ensures that passengers in the back stay as cool as those in the front during peak summer months.

Safety

This model carries a 5-star NHTSA safety rating and features the Nissan Safety Shield 360 as standard, including blind-spot intervention and rear automatic braking. For GCC highway driving, the SL's lane-keeping assist and traffic sign recognition provide vital layers of protection against fatigue. The inclusion of ten airbags and a high-strength steel safety cage makes it one of the most secure family environments in the segment.

The bottom line

Perfect for the growing family that needs maximum seating and GCC-proven reliability without sacrificing modern cabin technology. This is a high-spec, well-maintained example of Nissan's latest SUV generation that is ready for both the daily commute and cross-border road trips.
