Summary

This 2024 Nissan X-Trail S is a standout choice for families in the GCC, offering the rare combination of seven-seat versatility and a capable four-wheel-drive system in a modern crossover. With its relatively high mileage for its age, it represents a strategic entry point into a current-generation Japanese SUV that is built to handle the region's heat and long-distance requirements. The grey exterior is a neutral, high-demand choice that maintains strong resale appeal across the UAE and Saudi markets. Compared to its rivals, the X-Trail's reputation for mechanical durability and parts availability makes it a sensible long-term investment. For any buyer navigating between urban commutes and weekend family adventures, this refined yet rugged SUV provides the necessary reliability.

This Car vs Other 2024 X Trails

With 76,521 km on the odometer, this vehicle has seen more of the road than the typical 2024 model in the GCC, which usually averages 25,000 km annually. However, this usage is a testament to its reliability on long-distance desert highways, and the grey finish remains one of the most resilient colors for maintaining a clean appearance in local conditions.

S vs Lower Trims

While the S trim serves as the entry point, this specific 4WD configuration adds significant value over the base 2WD models often found in the market. It retains essential features for the GCC climate, including dedicated rear AC vents to keep all three rows cool during summer and standard LED headlights for superior visibility on unlit regional roads.

X Trail vs Segment Rivals

The X-Trail competes directly with the Toyota RAV4 and Mitsubishi Outlander. While many compact SUVs in this class only offer five seats, the X-Trail leads by providing a genuinely usable third row, making it a more flexible choice for larger families without stepping up to a bulky full-sized SUV.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.5L engine averages around 6.4 L/100km on highways, making it efficient for inter-city travel. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km, supported by one of the most extensive authorized service networks in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Nissan's strong brand equity ensures a slower depreciation rate of approximately 10-12% annually, outperforming many European rivals.

Performance & Capability

The 181 hp naturally aspirated engine provides smooth, linear power delivery that is better suited to high-temperature environments than complex turbocharged units. The selectable four-wheel-drive system and 210 mm ground clearance offer genuine confidence for gravel tracks and light desert excursions. On the highway, the CVT transmission is tuned for efficiency, ensuring a quiet cabin at cruising speeds.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed with the GCC family in mind, featuring a 7-seat layout with a sliding second row to optimize legroom. Crucial for the local climate, the air conditioning system is highly regarded for its cooling speed, aided by rear vents that ensure passenger comfort in the third row. High-quality fabric seating is a practical choice for the region, staying cooler to the touch than leather during peak summer months.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on this trim includes front, side, and curtain airbags, providing comprehensive protection for all occupants. For GCC highway driving, the X-Trail comes equipped with Cruise Control, Electronic Stability Control, and Hill Start Assist to manage both high-speed traffic and varying terrain. The inclusion of rear parking sensors as standard makes navigating tight urban parking spaces significantly easier.

The bottom line

For the pragmatist needing seven seats and 4WD capability, this current-gen X-Trail offers Japanese reliability and modern styling at a highly accessible price point due to its highway mileage.
