Summary

This 2024 Suzuki Baleno GLX represents a standout choice for urban commuters, offering the highest available trim with significantly more tech than the base model. Its White exterior is a top-tier choice for the GCC market, maximizing heat reflection and ensuring strong resale value. With mileage that reflects active but typical highway use for a one-year-old vehicle in the UAE, it remains well within its primary mechanical life. The Baleno dominates the sub-compact segment by offering premium features like a 360° camera and head-up display that are rare at this price point. For a GCC buyer, the combination of Suzuki's legendary reliability and class-leading fuel efficiency makes it a nearly unbeatable daily driver.

This Car vs Other 2024 Balenos

With 55,665 km, this Baleno has been driven more than the global average but aligns with typical long-range commuting common across the Emirates. As a 2024 model in the flagship GLX trim, it offers the most modern safety and infotainment suite currently available for this generation. The Arctic White paint is the most preferred color in the local used market, providing a clear advantage for future resale.

GLX vs Lower Trims

The GLX trim is a significant leap over the GL, adding a larger 9.0-inch HD touchscreen compared to the standard 7.0-inch unit. It exclusively features a 360-degree surround-view monitor and a pop-up head-up display, providing premium tech that enhances safety in busy city traffic. Additionally, the GLX upgrades include LED projector headlamps, 16-inch alloy wheels, and a 6-airbag system for superior protection.

Baleno vs Segment Rivals

The Suzuki Baleno leads rivals like the Toyota Starlet and Mitsubishi Mirage by offering a more refined 1.5L engine and a more sophisticated interior tech suite. While competitors often stick to basic infotainment, the Baleno GLX provides a high-definition 360-degree camera system that makes parking in tight urban spaces significantly easier. Its fuel efficiency of 18.5 km/L remains a benchmark for the non-hybrid compact segment in the GCC.

Running Costs & Resale

Running costs are exceptionally low, with a combined fuel economy of 5.4 L/100km that performs well even in stop-start traffic in Dubai or Riyadh. Suzuki enjoys one of the most extensive authorized service networks across the GCC, ensuring parts are affordable and readily available. The Baleno historically retains about 70% of its value after three years in the UAE market, making it a safe financial bet.

Performance & Capability

The 1.5L four-cylinder engine delivers a reliable 103 hp, optimized for efficiency rather than raw speed, yet it handles highway cruising at 120 km/h with ease. Its 4-speed automatic transmission is engineered for durability in high-temperature environments, avoiding the overheating issues sometimes found in more complex gearboxes. The lightweight HEARTECT platform ensures agile handling for city maneuvers and stable performance on long highway stretches between emirates.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is surprisingly spacious for a hatchback, featuring dedicated rear AC vents which are essential for maintaining passenger comfort during the intense GCC summer. The GLX trim adds premium touches like a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a 4.2-inch color LCD driver information display. Acoustic glass and improved insulation help keep the cabin quiet, shielding occupants from road noise and external heat.

Safety

Safety is a priority in the GLX trim, which comes standard with six airbags including front, side, and curtain protection. It features a comprehensive ADAS suite for the segment, including Hill Hold Control to prevent rolling on inclines and a 360-degree camera for total spatial awareness. The inclusion of ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) ensures stable stopping power even on sandy or rain-slicked road surfaces.

The bottom line

This Baleno GLX is the ideal match for a professional or small family seeking the best technology and lowest running costs in a modern, GCC-ready hatchback. It offers flagship features and the region's favorite color at a point in its life where the initial depreciation has already been absorbed.
