Summary

This 2024 Baleno GL represents a practical entry point into the modern hatchback market, offering a balance of efficiency and urban agility that is highly valued in the GCC. The silver exterior is a top-tier choice for the region, significantly aiding in heat reflection and maintaining a strong resale profile in the UAE and Saudi markets. While the mileage reflects active use, the 1.5L K15B engine is renowned for its bulletproof reliability and low maintenance costs across long-distance highway commutes. It stands out against rivals with its superior fuel economy and the ease of a vast, established service network that covers every corner of the Gulf. For a buyer seeking a hassle-free daily driver that holds its value, this GCC-spec model is a standout candidate.

This Car vs Other 2024 Balenos

With 71,658 km, this vehicle has been driven more than the typical 25,000 km annual average for the UAE, making it an ideal choice for a buyer looking for a mechanically proven 2024 model at a more accessible price point. The silver finish is one of the most resilient colors in the GCC used market, ensuring faster resale and better value retention compared to darker or niche tones.

GL vs Lower Trims

The GL trim serves as a well-equipped mid-tier option, featuring projector headlamps and rear parking sensors that are often absent on base fleet variants. It retains the essential comforts GCC drivers prioritize, including a multi-function steering wheel and dedicated rear AC vents, without the added complexity of the GLX's head-up display.

Baleno vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Toyota Yaris and Nissan Sunny, the Baleno leads in urban maneuverability with a tight 5.1 m turning circle, making it far easier to park in congested Dubai or Riyadh districts. Its lighter HEARTECT platform gives it a significant edge in real-world fuel efficiency, often outperforming its direct Japanese competitors in stop-start city traffic.

Running Costs & Resale

Running costs are among the lowest in the segment, with an official combined fuel rating of 19 km/L that remains impressive even with the AC at full blast. Suzuki boasts an extensive authorized service network across the UAE (Al Rostamani) and Saudi Arabia (Najeeb Auto), with standard service intervals every 10,000 km or 6 months. Silver Japanese hatchbacks typically see low annual depreciation in the GCC, hovering around 10% after the initial three-year mark.

Performance & Capability

The 1.5L four-cylinder engine delivers a reliable 103 hp, which is perfectly suited for steady highway cruising at 120 km/h between emirates. While not a performance car, the 4-speed automatic is optimized for smooth power delivery and durability in extreme summer heat. With a ground clearance of 150 mm, it handles speed bumps and minor road imperfections across GCC cities with confidence.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is intelligently designed to maximize space, offering surprising legroom for five passengers within its compact exterior footprint. Essential for the region, the air conditioning system is robust, supported by a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen that includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for seamless navigation. Storage is plentiful, featuring multiple door pockets and a 318-litre boot that easily accommodates weekly grocery hauls.

Safety

Safety is managed by dual front airbags and a suite of active systems including ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist. The inclusion of rear parking sensors and a high-strength HEARTECT frame provides essential protection and convenience for daily urban driving. These features are standard on the GCC-spec GL, ensuring compliance with regional safety expectations.

The bottom line

Perfect for the budget-conscious commuter or a small family, this Baleno offers the best of Suzuki's legendary reliability and fuel efficiency in a 2024 package. It is a highly rational purchase for anyone who needs a dependable, easy-to-maintain vehicle with a high resale ceiling in the local market.
