Summary

This Land Cruiser GXR hits the sweet spot for GCC buyers, combining the bulletproof 4.0L V6 with just 28,000 km—significantly below the regional average for a 2024 model. Finished in high-resale White, it represents one of the safest financial bets in the UAE used market due to its exceptional value retention. While newer turbo models exist, the naturally aspirated V6 in this GXR is prized by local owners for its long-term reliability and simpler maintenance in extreme desert heat. Whether you're navigating Dubai's city traffic or planning cross-border highway trips, this 7-seater provides the cooling performance and range needed for the region.

This Car vs Other 2024 Land Cruisers

With 28,000 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been driven much less than the typical 40,000–50,000 km usually seen on year-old SUVs in the GCC. The White exterior is the most sought-after color in the local market, ensuring the fastest possible turnaround and highest price when it's time to sell. Choosing the naturally aspirated 4.0L V6 over the twin-turbo variants offers a mechanical simplicity that many long-term UAE owners prefer for post-warranty peace of mind.

GXR vs Lower Trims

The GXR trim is the definitive upgrade over the entry-level EXR, adding essential comfort features for the Gulf climate. It steps up to 18-inch alloy wheels and replaces basic fabric with a more premium interior, often including a power-adjustable driver’s seat. Crucially for families, the GXR typically adds more advanced parking sensors and a wireless charger, making it a more convenient daily driver than the base specification.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Nissan Patrol V6 or the Ford Expedition, the Land Cruiser leads with its massive 110-litre dual-tank capacity, providing a much longer range for trips between the UAE and Oman or Saudi Arabia. Its body-on-frame construction is purpose-built for the dunes, offering a level of off-road durability that monocoque rivals struggle to match. Furthermore, the air conditioning system is widely regarded by GCC residents as the most effective for rapid cabin cooling during peak summer.

Running Costs & Resale

Toyota remains the undisputed king of resale value in the Middle East, with the Land Cruiser 300 typically losing only 8–10% of its value annually—far less than European luxury SUVs. The 4.0L V6 engine is compatible with widely available fuel grades and is known for its predictable service costs. Maintenance is effortless across the region, with Al Futtaim in the UAE and equivalent distributors in KSA and Oman providing the most extensive service network in the GCC. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km or 6 months.

Performance & Capability

The 4.0L V6 delivers a steady 300 hp (per input) and 385 Nm of torque, focused on reliability and smooth power delivery rather than raw speed. It features a full-time four-wheel-drive system with a low-range transfer case and a center differential lock, allowing it to handle soft sand and steep dunes with ease. With 235 mm of ground clearance and a 32-degree approach angle, it is fully equipped for weekend desert expeditions while maintaining a comfortable, stable cruise on the E11 highway.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for large families, offering seven usable seats and a tri-zone climate control system that features dedicated vents for all three rows. Cabin insulation is specifically tuned to block out the harsh exterior heat and road noise common during high-speed highway travel. Storage is plentiful, including the famous center console cool box, which is a literal lifesaver for keeping drinks chilled during UAE summers.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive on this trim, featuring a suite of airbags and advanced stability systems designed for both high-speed tarmac and loose sand. It includes standard features like a rear-view camera, parking sensors, and Crawl Control to assist in difficult off-road recoveries. The heavy-duty chassis and Toyota's active traction control (A-TRC) ensure the vehicle remains stable during sudden maneuvers in fast-moving highway traffic.

The bottom line

This 2024 GXR is a 'buy-and-forget' SUV for the buyer who wants legendary Land Cruiser capability with low mileage and the best possible resale protection in the GCC.
