Summary

This 2025 BYD Leopard 5 Ultra is a rare find in the GCC market, offering a sophisticated PHEV powertrain that blends supercar-level performance with genuine off-road hardware. With just 30,000 km in one year, its mileage is perfectly average for a GCC-based daily driver that likely split its time between city commutes and highway runs. The Grey exterior is a neutral, high-demand choice that resists the local heat well and maintains strong liquidity for future resale. As the top-tier Ultra trim, it features the advanced DiSus-P hydraulic suspension system, which is a major advantage for navigating both the high-speed curves of Sheikh Zayed Road and the rugged wadis of the northern emirates. For a buyer looking for a future-proof SUV that costs significantly less to run than traditional V8 rivals, this is an exceptionally well-rounded opportunity.

This Car vs Other 2025 Leopard 5s

With 30,000 km on the odometer, this Leopard 5 has been used regularly but remains within the expected usage window for a one-year-old vehicle in the GCC, where annual averages often reach 25,000 km. The Grey finish is a practical choice for the region's dusty conditions and typically holds its value better than more niche launch colors. This specific unit features the 31.8 kWh battery, offering the ideal balance between weight and performance.

ULTRA vs Lower Trims

The Ultra trim is the flagship of the lineup, adding the essential DiSus-P intelligent hydraulic body control system which allows for adjustable ride height and stiffness. Unlike lower trims, you also get a dedicated 12.3-inch passenger entertainment screen, a 50-inch augmented reality head-up display, and the premium 18-speaker Devialet audio system. These upgrades significantly enhance the luxury experience during long cross-country drives.

Leopard 5 vs Segment Rivals

The Leopard 5 competes directly with the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and the Tank 500, but it leads both in raw performance with its 680 hp output. While traditional rivals rely on larger displacement engines, the Leopard's DMO hybrid platform provides instant electric torque that is invaluable for soft-sand recovery. It also offers a significantly more advanced cabin tech suite, featuring triple-screen layouts that rivals often only match at much higher price points.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages around 7.8 L/100km in hybrid mode, making it one of the most efficient body-on-frame SUVs available in the UAE. Maintenance is straightforward as the 1.5T engine is a proven unit, though specialized EV service centers in Dubai and Sharjah are recommended for the high-voltage systems. As a Chinese-spec parallel import, it does not carry an official Al-Futtaim warranty, which is reflected in its competitive used-market pricing.

Performance & Capability

The headline figure is the 4.8-second 0-100 km/h sprint, which allows this heavy SUV to out-accelerate many sports sedans on the highway. Off-road, the DiSus-P suspension can lift the chassis to provide 310 mm of ground clearance, paired with front, center, and rear electronic differential locks for extreme terrain. It also features a 790 mm wading depth, making it highly capable during the UAE's occasional heavy rain and flooding events.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a tech-heavy sanctuary featuring Nappa leather seats with integrated ventilation and massage functions—essential for GCC summers. A built-in refrigerator with heating and cooling functions is located in the center console, perfect for keeping drinks cold during desert expeditions. The 15.6-inch 2.5K central screen manages most functions, while the acoustic glass ensures the interior remains quiet even at highway speeds.

Safety

Safety is handled by the DiPilot 100 ADAS suite, which includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and autonomous emergency braking, providing peace of mind on long desert stretches. The 360-degree camera system features a 'transparent chassis' view, which is particularly useful for spotting sharp rocks or obstacles when off-roading. The vehicle is built with 96% high-strength steel, providing a robust safety cell for all five occupants.

The bottom line

This is the ideal choice for a tech-savvy adventurer who wants the capability of a traditional 4x4 without the high fuel costs or dated interiors of the establishment.
