Summary

This 2026 Leopard 5 Ultra represents the cutting edge of BYD's DMO super-hybrid platform, offering a rare blend of supercar acceleration and genuine off-road hardware. With delivery mileage of just 50 km, this is essentially a brand-new vehicle available without the typical import wait times seen for the Fangchengbao sub-brand. The Peak Grey exterior is a high-demand choice in the GCC, ensuring strong resale liquidity compared to more niche launch colors. For the UAE buyer, this model provides the ability to handle the daily Sheikh Zayed Road commute on pure electric power while remaining ready for long-distance desert expeditions across the borders. It stands out in the growing high-end Chinese SUV segment by offering a body-on-frame construction that traditional luxury crossovers simply cannot match.

This Car vs Other 2026 Leopard 5s

With just 50 km on the odometer, this vehicle is in factory-fresh condition, offering a significant advantage over other 2026 models that may have already entered active service. In the GCC, where average annual mileage often exceeds 20,000 km, starting with delivery mileage preserves the maximum possible mechanical life and warranty value. The Peak Grey finish is particularly well-suited for the region, as it hides desert dust effectively while maintaining a premium look that supports strong resale value in the UAE and Saudi markets.

ULTRA vs Lower Trims

The Ultra trim is the definitive specification for the GCC, adding the essential DiSus-P intelligent hydraulic body control system which allows for adjustable ride height up to 310 mm. Unlike the standard trims, the Ultra includes a full Nappa leather interior with ventilated and massaging seats, which are critical for maintaining comfort during intense summer heat. It also features a superior 18-speaker Devialet audio system and a dedicated 360-degree transparent chassis camera system, providing much-needed visibility when navigating technical dune crests or tight urban parking.

Leopard 5 vs Segment Rivals

The Leopard 5 competes directly with the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and the Tank 500, yet it leads the segment in raw performance with its 600 hp hybrid output. While traditional rivals rely on larger displacement engines, the BYD's DMO platform provides instant electric torque for dune climbing while offering a CLTC combined range of 1,200 km, far exceeding the typical highway range of petrol-only competitors. Its 1.5-liter turbocharged generator ensures that even on long cross-border drives to Oman or Saudi Arabia, range anxiety is non-existent.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world hybrid fuel consumption is highly efficient for a 3-ton SUV, with highway figures averaging around 7.1L/100km when the battery is managed correctly. BYD's partnership with Al-Futtaim has significantly strengthened the authorized service network across the UAE, ensuring parts availability and expert maintenance are readily accessible. While Chinese-spec imports have historically seen higher initial depreciation, the Leopard 5 is maintaining strong value retention due to its unique position as a high-performance PHEV off-roader, typically retaining about 82% of its value after the first year in the local market.

Performance & Capability

The headline figure is the 0-100 km/h sprint of just 4.8 seconds, enabled by the dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. Off-road, the Ultra trim utilizes triple differential locks and a specialized 'Leopard U-turn' function that reduces the turning radius to just 3.4 meters on loose surfaces like sand. The hydraulic suspension not only provides a maximum 310 mm of ground clearance but also features 780 mm of wading depth, making it exceptionally capable during the UAE's occasional heavy rain and wadi floods.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for GCC luxury, featuring a triple-screen cockpit with a 15.6-inch central display and dedicated screens for the driver and passenger. Superior heat insulation and a powerful multi-zone climate control system ensure the interior stays cool even when ambient temperatures exceed 45°C. Practical touches for the region include a factory-fitted refrigerator in the center console and acoustic glass that keeps the cabin remarkably quiet at high highway speeds.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on the Ultra trim includes a full suite of ADAS features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and autonomous emergency braking, all highly effective for long desert highway stretches. The vehicle is built on a high-strength steel ladder frame that integrates the Blade Battery for enhanced structural rigidity, providing a low center of gravity that significantly reduces the rollover risk common in traditional high-riding SUVs.

The bottom line

This 2026 Leopard 5 Ultra is the perfect choice for the tech-forward UAE buyer who refuses to choose between supercar performance and genuine desert capability. With delivery mileage and the highest available trim, it represents a turn-key opportunity to own the region's most advanced hybrid 4x4 today.
